Matthews to Receive Additional Testing
Tuesday, Nov. 29
Matthews will receive an MRI on his ankle, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, who added the Eagles are "optimistic" it isn't a significant sprain.
Matthews was forced to retreat to the locker room on two different occasions to get his ankle looked at during the game on Nov. 28. He finished with four catches for 47 yards.
Matthews Is the Clear No. 1 WR in Eagles Offense
Matthews has established himself as the Eagles' most reliable offensive weapon. The Vanderbilt product made an instant impact as a rookie after being selected in the second round of the 2014 draft, and he has continued to put up strong numbers while many of the faces around him have changed in recent years.
The 24-year-old Alabama native has also remained durable throughout his NFL career, appearing in every regular-season contest for the Eagles. He did battle through bothersome back spasms earlier this season, though.
All told, the Eagles offense has endured some ups and downs throughout the season, which is common when operating with a rookie quarterback. Getting Matthews back represents a major boost in the effort to find more consistency on that side of the ball.
