Chicago Bears vs. New York Giants Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick
Last year, the Chicago Bears made good money on the road, going 6-2 against the spread. But trends like that eventually reverse themselves, sometimes quickly, and this year, Chicago is 0-5 both straight up and ATS away from home, looking downright dismal at times. Can the Bears put up a fight against the New York Giants on Sunday in New Jersey?
Point spread: The Giants opened as six-point favorites; the total was 47.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).

Why the Bears can cover the spread
Chicago looks to rebound this week from a 36-10 loss at Tampa last week. The Bears fell down 7-0 nine minutes in on one of those classic Jay Cutler pick-sixes, but they only trailed 17-10 at halftime thanks to a Cutler Hail Mary connection with Cameron Meredith on the final play of the first half. Things slipped away from there, though, as an offense that lost two starters on the line to injury got shut out in the second half.
Chicago outrushed the Buccaneers 122-80, as rookie running back Jordan Howard hit the 100-yard mark for the fourth time this season, while the defense held Tampa to under three yards per rush. But four turnovers basically cost the Bears at least 17 points, and a Cutler fumble resulted in a Bucs safety.
Just prior to that, Chicago put on probably its best performance of the year, beating Minnesota 20-10. The Bears outgained the Vikings that night 403-258, and Cutler didn't turn the ball over once.
Why the Giants can cover the spread
New York is suddenly one of the hottest teams in the league, with four straight wins/covers, including a 21-20 squeaker over Cincinnati last week. The Giants grabbed an early lead on the first of three Eli Manning touchdown passes on the night, trailed after three quarters 20-14, but took the lead for good on another Manning scoring toss with 14 minutes to go and hung on from there.
New York outgained the Bengals 351-264, outrushed them 122-78 and won first downs by a 23-12 margin.
The Giants defeated rival Philadelphia 28-23 in Week 9, beat Los Angeles 17-10 in Week 7 and beat Baltimore 27-23 in Week 6. At 6-3 on the season, New York trails first-place Dallas by two games in the NFC East but has a 51.1 percent chance of claiming an NFC wild-card berth, according to PredictionMachine.com.
Smart pick
Chicago can look bad at times, but it's outgained four of its last six opponents. The Giants, on the other hand, even while winning four games in a row, have been outgained four of their last six times out. If Cutler can get some help from the running game and avoid the turnovers, the Bears could cover this spread.
Betting trends
The total has gone over in nine of the Bears' last 12 games against the Giants.
The visiting team is 7-2 SU and 8-1 ATS in its last nine games in this matchup.
The Giants are 1-4 ATS in their last five games in Week 11.
