Beckham Becomes Fastest Wideout to 3,500 Receiving Yards

Bleacher Report MilestonesNov 15, 2016

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. finished Monday night's 21-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals with 10 catches for 97 yards, giving him 3,528 receiving yards for his career.

Per Sportsnet Stats, Beckham's 36-game total made him the fastest wide receiver to surpass the 3,500 career yard mark. The record was previously held by San Diego Chargers great Lance Alworth, who reached the total in 37 contests, according to ESPN.

He has certainly benefited from having a good quarterback under center. Eli Manning has started every game of Beckham's career, and the two have had a solid rapport throughout the star wideout's young career. However, there's no denying that the third-year receiver out of LSU has plenty of talent.

After having his NFL debut delayed in 2014 due to a hamstring issue, Beckham exploded onto the scene. He finished his rookie season with 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 12 games and followed that up with 1,450 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2015. Through nine games this season, he's on pace to nearly match those totals.

While he may always be remembered for an infamous catch, Beckham should continue to make more memories for Giants fans. In a league that has shifted toward the passing game, he could also find his name in the record books under many other categories in the future.

For now, Beckham and New York are likely focused on making the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 season. The win Monday night pushed the team a big step closer to achieving that goal. The Giants now sit alone in second place in the NFC East and own a half-game advantage over the division rival Washington Redskins for the top NFC wild-card spot.

Regardless of the outcome, Beckham will surely have a hand in the team's success or failure the rest of the way.
