NFL Trade Deadline 2016: Latest Rumors Heading into Deadline Day
The NFL trade deadline often comes and goes without a splash, but that certainly hasn't been the case this year with Monday's shocking trade of linebacker Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a conditional third-round pick to the New England Patriots.
But will any other trades go down before Tuesday's deadline? And what are some of the juiciest rumors making the rounds?
Let's find out.
Joe Thomas, OT, Cleveland Browns

It isn't a surprise that Joe Thomas' name comes up when potential trade targets around the NFL are discussed. After all, he's arguably the league's best left tackle, and the winless Cleveland Browns could trade him to stockpile more picks for the future.
But not so fast.
The Browns are approaching the trade deadline "sincerely believing they will not trade All-Pro left tackle Joe Thomas," according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (via Conor Orr of NFL.com).
And Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that "the Browns most likely will be keeping left tackle Joe Thomas," adding that "the offers simply aren’t there—and likely won’t be."
Florio added that the only team likely to consider a deal for Thomas might be the New York Giants, which would allow the team to move Ereck Flowers back to right tackle, likely a more natural position than the left side.
But Florio also noted that "even that is a long shot because the Giants don’t seem to be inclined to give the Browns the kind of offer they’d want."
So it would appear that Thomas, 31, will remain with Cleveland. The Browns can likely justify keeping Thomas for the long haul, as they'll likely draft a quarterback this offseason and can solidify the left side of the line with Thomas remaining in Cleveland.
Few players have been better for the Browns over the years, meaning the team can demand a king's ransom. And the Browns can potentially go into 2017 with a team built around Joe Thomas, wideout Terrelle Pryor, linebacker Jamie Collins and likely the top overall pick in the draft, which fans will hope is a franchise quarterback.
Joe Haden, CB, Cleveland Browns
While Thomas appears likely to stay put, cornerback Joe Haden could be on the move and has come up in trade talks, per Rapoport (via Orr).
Haden, 27, has dealt with a number of injuries over the past two years and has seen his form slip in the process, but he's still one of the better corners in the game when he's fully healthy. He never seemed to thrive in Mike Pettine's defensive system, but he's seemed more comfortable when he's been on the field in 2016 and has two picks on the season.
Certainly, there are teams out there that would benefit from having a player like Haden on the outside. His injury concerns will play a factor in that regard, as teams will likely be wary of adding a player who is unable to stay on the field. But teams confident he can remain healthy would be wise to at least inquire about Haden.
Sheldon Richardson, DT, New York Jets

And now, for some rumors outside Cleveland.
Rapoport (via Orr) noted that Sheldon Richardson is on the trade block, likely because the New York Jets have Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams (who already has six sacks this year) at the position and have other needs on the roster. The team's 3-5 start to the season likely plays a factor as well, although the Jets aren't out of the playoff picture just yet.
Without question, Richardson, 25, would be a major upgrade for defensive lines across the NFL. But Rich Cimini of ESPN.com doubts he'll be heading anywhere at the trade deadline:
"The Jets won't get fair-market value for Richardson because he has been suspended twice and teams are leery of his off-the-field behavior. Concerned about signing him long term, the Jets could look to explore trades in the offseason, but it wouldn't make sense now. One league source believes the ceiling for Richardson is a second-round draft pick.
"
Given the strong play of Wilkerson and Williams—and the fact that Richardson has struggled to rush the passer like he did in the past, notching just 1.5 sacks on the year—Richardson appears to have become expendable to the Jets.
Just not so expendable that a trade during the season is likely.
Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns

OK, back to the Browns.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported that the Browns are trying to trade wide receiver Josh Gordon before the deadline. Gordon was released from an inpatient treatment facility, where he was undergoing a rehab program, though he remains indefinitely suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
The question, of course, is whether any team will give up anything to land a player who may not be reinstated this season and hasn't played in an NFL game since 2014, as off-field issues have kept him out of the league.
Gordon has undeniable talent, but many teams may be wary of gambling on him until he proves he can actually play a full season and avoid suspension.
