Seattle Seahawks vs. New Orleans Saints Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick

OddsShark.comOct 26, 2016

The Seattle Seahawks (4-1-1) will be playing their second straight road game when they visit the New Orleans Saints (2-4) as small road favorites this weekend.

The Seahawks are coming off a 6-6 tie against the Arizona Cardinals last week, covering the spread as 1.5-point road underdogs, while the Saints return home after a 27-21 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and also beat the number as 6.5-point road dogs.

Point spread: The Seahawks opened as three-point favorites; the total was 47.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).

NFL pick, via Odds Shark computer: 26.6-23.0 Seahawks (NFL picks on every game)

Why the Seahawks can cover the spread

The favored team has won six of the past eight meetings straight up between Seattle and New Orleans, including the last three, according to the Odds Shark NFL Database.

The Seahawks are also 10-2 SU in their last 12 games against teams with losing records, and this point spread is small enough where covering should not be much of an issue if they win again. The tie at Arizona disappointed and frustrated them, especially on offense. Seattle should have an easier time scoring at the Superdome.

Why the Saints can cover the spread

The Saints are an impressive 8-0-1 ATS in their last nine games versus teams with winning records, as they continue to play to the level of their competition. Last week's loss to the Chiefs was no different, with them staying within a touchdown for much of the game.

This will be the first meeting between the teams since New Orleans sent tight end Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks for center Max Unger, who is one of the team's captains. Graham has not been the same player since arriving in Seattle, and his old teammates should know how to defend him at home and continue his struggles.

Smart pick

For whatever reason, the Seahawks have had a hard time in Week 8 games, failing to cover the spread in their last seven. Meanwhile, the Saints are 7-2 SU in their previous nine Week 8 games, and they will be extra motivated to beat Graham and his new team.

New Orleans head coach Sean Payton knows Graham's weaknesses better than anyone, which is one of the reasons the team did not mind dealing him. Look for the Saints to surprise Seattle in an upset win by simply being the better offensive squad.

Betting trends

The Saints are 8-0-1 ATS in their last nine games against teams with winning records.

The Seahawks are 10-2 SU in their last 12 games against teams with losing records.

The Seahawks are 0-7 ATS in their last seven games in Week 8.
