NFL TV Schedule 2016: Week 8 Live Stream, TV Coverage Map and Game Times

Michelle BrutonOct 27, 2016

NFL Week 8 is a slate of potential playoff matchups, with most of them concentrated in the NFC.

The 4-2 Green Bay Packers travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons, who currently lead the NFC South.

Those teams had a pretty memorable game in the Georgia Dome in January 2011, and it would be nothing short of a statement for the Packers to leave there with a win like that (48-21, Packers).

Meanwhile, the 5-1 Dallas Cowboys and 4-2 Philadelphia Eagles, who are both vying for control in the NFC East, meet on Sunday Night Football. Depending on how things go in the rest of the NFC, especially the NFC West, whichever of those teams does not win its division may be able to secure a wild card.

There are AFC teams with important matchups in Week 8, as well, even if they might not be playoff previews.

For instance, if the 5-2 Oakland Raiders can win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the San Diego Chargers somehow defeat the Denver Broncos, it would throw off the balance of power in the AFC West in Oakland's favor.

Must-Watch Matchups

Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons

4-2 is a respectable record at this point in the season, but it's safe to say that if you look past their record, the Packers are performing below expectations this season. Their offense is 27th overall in the league, averaging 344.2 yards and 23.3 points per game.

Meanwhile, no one can argue that Atlanta is performing at a higher level than many would have thought, save perhaps for diehard Falcons fans.

Atlanta has the No. 1 offense in the NFL heading into Week 8, averaging 433.6 yards per game and 32.7 points. The Falcons have flown on the performances of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones, who is the league's top wideout.

This game could easily become a shootout. Both squads have high-performing run defenses (Green Bay's is No. 1; Atlanta's is No. 9 in rushing yards allowed per game), and both are having personnel issues at running back.

Eddie Lacy is on injured reserve for the Packers, while the Falcons will be without Tevin Coleman in Week 8, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported:

Aaron Rodgers attempted 56 passes in Week 7 and completed a franchise-high 39 of them. He's prepared to match Matt Ryan pass-for-pass. Ultimately, however, Julio Jones is the most dangerous weapon on either of these two teams.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys

Both the Eagles and the Cowboys have something going for them heading into Week 8.

Philadelphia, after hitting a rough patch in Weeks 5 and 6 with two consecutive losses, head into this NFC East matchup coming off a big 21-10 statement win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7, turning two narratives on their heads: that the Vikings are a surefire playoff team and that the Eagles were too good to be true after a strong start.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are healthy and rested coming off their Week 7 bye.

One of their biggest factors coming out of the bye week is that it looks like wide receiver Dez Bryant will finally be back in action on Sunday after missing three straight games with a knee injury.

ESPN's Adam Schefter shared the news that Bryant is expected to play, via ESPN's Twitter:

The Cowboys could also get cornerbacks Orlando Scandrick and Morris Claiborne back this week, per Cowboys insider Mike Fisher. That will go a long way toward thwarting Carson Wentz and the Eagles' passing attack.

At 5-1 and 4-2 respectively, the Cowboys and Eagles will likely duke it out for the No. 1 spot in the NFC East and inch closer to a playoff berth.

Sunday's showdown will have a huge impact on that division race.
