Stephen Hill Reportedly Suspended: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
Former New York Jets and Carolina Panthers wide receiver Stephen Hill was reportedly suspended on Tuesday for the next two weeks of the regular season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The reason for Hill's suspension has yet to be disclosed.
A second-round pick of the Jets in 2012, Hill caught 45 passes for 594 yards and four touchdowns during two seasons with Gang Green.
However, Hill was cut by the Jets in Aug. 2014 after he was demoted due to performance issues and some injury troubles.
The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket proceeded to sign with the Panthers practice squad, but his time in Carolina was marred by off-field struggles that preceded a torn ACL in his right knee.
After Hill was waived by the Panthers, the NFL suspended him stemming from a previous citation. He's been searching for work ever since as an unrestricted free agent.
According to WSOC-TV's Allison Latos, Hill was cited in July 2015 for possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop. In Nov. 2015, the NFL banned Hill for one game due to a breach of the league's substance abuse policy.
Based on legal and injury woes, Hill has made it hard for a team to trust him as a potential free-agent signee.
