Jordan Reed Becomes Fastest to Reach 200 Receptions Among Tight Ends

Bleacher Report MilestonesOct 5, 2016

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed recorded the 200th catch of his career in Sunday's 31-20 win over the Cleveland Browns, setting an NFL record at his position for the fastest player (38 games) to reach the 200-reception barrier, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info).

Reed bested the old record of 39 games, which was set by Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr. in 1981 as a member of the San Diego Chargers.

The two tight ends appear to have quite a bit in common, as both have struggled with more than their fair share of injuries but otherwise mostly appear unstoppable.

Winslow played just seven games during his 1979 rookie season and ultimately made just 109 regular-season appearances in nine seasons, limited by injuries more so than the opposition.

While healthy so far this year, Reed missed at least two games in each of his first three NFL seasons, sitting out a combined 14 games across those years while still establishing himself as one of the two or three best receivers at his position.

The 26-year-old truly enjoyed a breakout last year, catching 87 passes for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns despite losing two games to injury.

If he can finally stay healthy for a full 16-game season, Reed will likely cross the 1,000-yard barrier for the first time in his career, with double-digit touchdowns probably also in the picture.
