Week 4 Fantasy Football Projections: Flex, PPR Stat Predictions for Top 100

Rob GoldbergSep 27, 2016

Three weeks of NFL games have provided a good barometer test for players around the league, which means we have to decide who we can trust.

Fantasy football features a lot of uncertainty, but you can help yourself out by leaning toward the players who get the ball the most, either on the ground or through the air. This is especially true in point-per-reception leagues, which rewards those who have a big role in the offense even if they don't necessarily get in the end zone.

With this in mind, here is a look at the top 100 flex players heading into Week 4.

DeAngelo Williams was an elite running back in the first two weeks of the season, but Le'Veon Bell returns from suspension this week and should immediately become the go-to option in the Pittsburgh Steelers' backfield.

This is what happened in Week 3 last season when Bell returned from suspension, earning 19 carries while Williams had just one carry as a backup. Bell is a must-start in all leagues; Williams would be a risky option as an RB3.

Add Chad Johnson to those who have faith in Bell stepping up in his first game back:

Lamar Miller also remains high on this list despite averaging just 3.6 yards per carry so far in 2016 and failing to get a touchdown. This is mostly due to his high usage rate, including 74 carries in three games. He even saw 25 touches Thursday night in a blowout loss to the New England Patriots.

Considering how active he was in a game Houston was trailing the whole time, he is certain to remain a big part of the offense every single week. This makes it only a matter of time before he puts up huge numbers on a regular basis and justifies the early draft pick you used on him.

Finally, Christine Michael continues his rise up the rankings, especially with Thomas Rawls dealing with a fibula injury, per John Doyle of Seahawks.com.

Chris Wesseling of NFL.com described the improvement we have seen from Michael this season:

After rushing for 106 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns in Week 3, he has firmly put himself in the discussion for an RB1 as long as he remains the starter in Seattle.

At receiver, the top three all have tough matchups in Week 4, but Antonio Brown, Julio Jones and Odell Beckham Jr. remain the best options at the position every week. They have high upsides, and you don't want to miss out on potentially having them in your lineups.

Meanwhile, a handful of players have also seen their stock rise over the last week or so, including Indianapolis Colts star T.Y. Hilton. After a couple of quiet games, he exploded for 174 receiving yards on eight catches in Week 3 against the San Diego Chargers, including this game-winning score in the fourth quarter:

Gregg Doyel of the Indy Star discussed the receiver living up to his own expectations:

If you are looking for someone on the verge of this type of breakout, watch out for Amari Cooper. Like Miller, he hasn't scored a touchdown yet this season and only has 133 receiving yards in the last two games combined. However, he has at least nine targets in every game this season, and it is only a matter of time until he carries your fantasy team for a week.

The upcoming matchup against the Baltimore Ravens could provide that chance.

There are some question marks at tight end, especially with Rob Gronkowski after he got shut out last week. He still has enough upside to play him, although Jordan Reed and Greg Olsen have passed him until he proves differently.

Jimmy Graham and Zach Miller move up after coming off big efforts in Week 3, although they come with plenty of risk after doing little to this point in the season. Still, they can help your team if you have enough faith to play them.
