NFL TV Schedule 2016: Coverage Map, Times, Live-Stream Listings for Week 3

Michelle BrutonSep 22, 2016

The NFL is one of the few sports leagues where fans can watch multiple games per week, including but not limited to their own teams and those for which they have rooting and/or betting interests.

That's partially a design of the schedule—with only 16 weeks, it's not a long commitment—and partially a result of the fact that the bulk of games occur at the same time per week, which means fans can channel-surf all day.

As you plan your weekend, you'll want to know the TV schedule and coverage map for NFL Week 3 so you can ensure you get to watch the games you want.

Patriots Win Without Jimmy G.

What the New England Patriots have been able to do without Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski through the first two games of the season has been remarkable.

To go 2-0 during this four-game period without Brady—when many people said all they needed to do to remain competitive was split their slate at 2-2has put the Patriots in excellent position to start the year, but no one said the winning has to come to an end now that Jimmy Garoppolo is going to miss time.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Garoppolo might miss only one game, the Week 3 matchup against the Texans:

And while that's a difficult defense to navigate with a third-string quarterback, the Patriots system is built to give its passer a lot of help.

Julian Edelman, Martellus Bennett, Chris Hogan and Danny Amendola have been instrumental in keeping the New England offense effective without Brady and Gronkowski. Bennett, Hogan and Amendola all have at least one touchdown on the season so far.

NBC reported that Gronkowski is a coach's decision this week, but if he returns, it will be an obvious boost to New England's chances of defeating Houston regardless of who starts at quarterback.

Speaking of, New England has not signed a veteran quarterback this week, so all signs point to Jacoby Brissett starting against Houston.

Welcome to the NFL, rookie.

Carson Wentz Continues Streak of No INTs

You probably figure it's rare for a rookie quarterback to start his season with no interceptions...but do you realize how rare it is?

It's actually historic, via ESPN Stats and Info:

You may not understand just how excellent Wentz is playing if you looked only at the box score.

Through two games, Wentz has thrown for 468 yards and completed 60.6 percent of his passes for three touchdowns and no interceptions. Those numbers aren't shabby by any means, but they don't make your eyes pop out of your head either.

But what makes Wentz special is what you see when you watch him play.

The accuracy is the big thing. For a rookie, he has incredible control of both the pocket and the ball. He steps into the rush to pass, calls protections at the line of scrimmage, audibles out of plays and is athletic enough to tuck and run when he needs to.

Expect Wentz to continue to defy the odds and remain interception-free against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3.

Jaguars Fall to 0-3

The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the hottest teams in the preseason, with analysts projecting them to have a strong season and start capitalizing on all their young talent.

Yet the team is winless heading into Week 3, and chances are good they'll lose to the 2-0 Baltimore Ravens.

What happened?

The good news is that Jaguars running back Chris Ivory returned to practice Wednesday, as Rapoport shared on Twitter:

Missing Ivory has limited Jacksonville's ground attack, making its offense more one-dimensional. Teams have stacked their secondaries to stymie Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.

Talented quarterback Blake Bortles has the potential to lead this team to success, but he's struggling. In Jacksonville's 38-14 loss to the San Diego Chargers, Bortles threw two interceptions and fumbled once.

This team has talent; there's no question about that. But the pieces aren't working together quite yet for Jacksonville.
