Stork Looking to Latch onto New Team After Being Cut by Patriots
The interior lineman, who started for the Patriots in their Super Bowl XLIX victory over the Seattle Seahawks in 2015, lost a battle with David Andrews for the center job during training camp and the preseason.
It made him expendable, so New England agreed to trade him to the Washington Redskins on Aug. 24 in exchange for a conditional draft pick.
Master Tesfatsion and Mike Jones of the Washington Post reported Stork alerted Redskins officials he would consider retiring if he was traded. Although he eventually showed up, he failed his physical with the organization, subsequently voiding the trade.
The Patriots announced his release a short time later, and he's remained a free agent since Aug. 29.
Stork's health is also a concern. Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reported in early August the 25-year-old Florida State product suffered a concussion during a camp practice, which marked the fourth straight year he's been diagnosed with a concussion, dating back to his time with the Seminoles.
