Lynch Reportedly Denies Comeback Rumors

"I called BeastMode," Lynch's former teammate, Michael Robinson, said, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. "Record this, everybody. Marshawn Lynch is retired, he told me from his own mouth."

Lynch Rumored to Be Contemplating End of Retirement

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported Lynch is "up in the air" about coming out of retirement and could potentially return in Week 4 or Week 5.

This would represent a major shift in thought process for the 30-year-old running back, who announced his retirement in February with a tweet showing him hanging up his cleats. 

He also made it clear he wasn't interested in a return during an interview with L. Jon Wertheim of Sports Illustrated.

"No, I'm done. I'm done," Lynch said. "I enjoyed my time playin'. Now it's time to watch my cousins and all the athletes that I like watchin'. That's what time it is for me."

Lynch Would Still Bring Value to NFL Team

Lynch played nine years in the NFL, with the Seahawks and Buffalo Bills, totaling 9,112 rushing yards and 74 rushing touchdowns. He went to five Pro Bowls, four of them with Seattle, and in 2012 was named first-team All-Pro.

He was also one of the most consistent running backs in football over the past few years, finishing with at least 1,200 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in every season from 2011 to 2014.

Unfortunately, an abdomen injury limited him to just seven games during the 2015 season. He returned for one playoff game but managed just 20 yards on six carries against the Carolina Panthers.

The Seahawks would still hold Lynch's rights if he returns, but they plan to go into the season with Thomas Rawls and Christine Michael in the backfield.
