Fantasy Football Week 16: Friday's Daily Fantasy Market Report
We're just a day away from the main slate of the Week 16 fantasy football season.
Yeah, playing the majority of the games on Saturday is definitely different, but it will be a nice change of pace.
In these seven news updates, we'll cover some key players who did not practice Thursday.
Not practicing this late in the week is never good for when players have Sunday games—never mind Saturday games.
It's fair to say most, if not all, of these players will not play this week.
Good news for you is that we've got all the analysis you'll need for each players' respective backups.
First up, Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed.
Redskins TE Jordan Reed DNP Thursday
1 of 7
According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed did not practice Thursday due to a shoulder injury.
In addition to Reed not practicing, Jones also reports that Redskins head coach Jay Gruden was not optimistic about Reed's chances this Saturday.
Since coming back from his initial shoulder injury, Reed has just two catches for 16 yards through two games.
Even if he were to suit up, Reed is not a trustworthy option at the moment.
In his place, Vernon Davis will start at tight end against a Chicago Bears team that is 28th in DVOA against tight ends.
Priced at just $3,000 on DraftKings, Davis makes for a solid near-minimum option at tight end.
Lions RB Theo Riddick DNP Thursday
2 of 7
Could Detroit Lions running back Theo Riddick miss his third game in a row?
According to Tim Twentyman of the Lions official team site, Riddick missed practice Thursday due to a lingering wrist injury.
The good news for Riddick is that the Lions don't play until Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, so there's more time for him to be cleared.
If Riddick is out, the Lions will turn to running backs Dwayne Washington and Zach Zenner.
Both of these guys have been largely ineffective this season. Don't consider either of them.
Vikings RB Adrian Peterson DNP Thursday
3 of 7
It looks like Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's return might be short-lived.
According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Peterson missed practice once again Thursday with groin and knee injuries.
In his Week 15 return, AP was terrible, running for 22 yards on six carries, putting one on the ground for a lost fumble.
In Week 16, the Vikings will take on the Green Bay Packers, who rank 11th in DVOA against the run.
If AP sits, the Vikings will turn to Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata.
No thanks.
Bengals TE Tyler Eifert DNP Thursday
4 of 7
These damn back injuries, man.
According to Katherine Terrell of ESPN, Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert did not practice Thursday with a back injury.
You're probably already aware of this, but Eifert missed the first six games of the season with back injuries.
With wide receiver A.J. Green set to return in Week 16, this has the makings of a huge week for him if Eifert sits.
Texans RB Lamar Miller DNP Thursday
5 of 7
After scoring in back-to-back games, it's starting to look like Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller could miss Week 16 after all.
According to Sarah Barshop of ESPN, Miller is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered at the end of the team's Week 15 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars and did not practice Thursday.
Overall, Miller has been a disappointment this season, eclipsing 100 yards rushing in just four games this season.
If Miller is unable to go against the Cincinnati Bengals, expect a committee of Alfred Blue and Akeem Hunt.
Although the Bengals rank 18th in DVOA against the run, it's tough to trust either one of these players, especially in a projected platoon.
Chargers RB Melvin Gordon Unlikely to Play in Week 16
6 of 7
While this was expected, it would have been fun to see San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon get a piece of the lowly Cleveland Browns "run defense."
According to Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Gordon missed practice once again on Thursday due to the hip injury he suffered in Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers.
With Gordon likely out, we should expect a steady diet of Kenneth Farrow and Ronnie Hillman.
In Week 15 without Gordon, Farrow out-touched Hillman 17-7 but had 53 total yards compared to Hillman's 34.
On the ground, Hillman was much more efficient, so this could turn into more of a committee—seems to be a theme for Week 16.
The matchup is great, but it's tough to peg who will be "the guy."
If you wanted to put Hillman into a GPP lineup or two, I wouldn't disagree with that.
Steelers TE Ladarius Green DNP Thursday
7 of 7
The Pittsburgh Steelers will likely be without one of their top pass-catching options on Christmas Day against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16.
According to Jacob Klinger of PennLive.com, Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Ladarius Green did not practice Thursday due to a concussion he suffered in the team's Week 15 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Prior to being knocked out of the game, Green was on his way to a breakout game, catching five passes for over 70 yards.
Without Green, the Steelers will rely heavily on wide receiver Antonio Brown and running back Le'Veon Bell.
The Ravens have been rock solid on defense this season as a whole, but they are dealing with injuries to some key defensive players such as cornerback Jimmy Smith, who also didn't practice Thursday, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun.
Brown and Bell are the only Steelers I want anything to do with.
