Fantasy Football Week 15: Friday's Daily Fantasy Market Report

Richard JanvrinDec 16, 2016

Week 15 of the fantasy football season kicked off with another competitive Thursday Night Football game.

Oh wait, no it wasn't—the Los Angeles Rams were manhandled in their 24-3 loss against a Seattle Seahawks team that had almost identical, retina destroying, Color Rush jerseys to that of the Orlando Thunder of the World League of American Football.

In the Rams loss, rookie quarterback Jared Goff suffered a concussion. We'll have him covered in next week's Daily Fantasy Market Reports.

Thursday's news was highlighted by the New England Patriots claiming wide receiver Michael Floyd. Of course it was the Patriots, right?

In this week's final Market Report installment, we'll cover two top-tier wide receivers, a concussion from a car accident and Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler's top target, among other things.

You know, when you put it that way, it sounds way more exciting (not that car accidents are exciting).

Good luck this week in DFS and your season-long leagues.

Let's win some money.

Jets RB Matt Forte Thinks He Can Play Despite Meniscus Tear

1 of 8

Despite having a torn meniscus, New York Jets running back Matt Forte feels as if he can play through it, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

While it's easy to understand from Forte's point of view, the Jets should just shut him down—this season is long gone and Forte isn't getting any younger.

Even with the tear, Forte did, however, manage to put in a limited practice on Thursday, Cimini also notes.

It would be a surprise if Forte were to play in Week 15, but it sounds like he's eager to get out there.

If Forte is unable to go, fellow running back Bilal Powell should once against see a plethora of touches against the Miami Dolphins 22nd in DVOA against the run.

Just make it easy on yourself: avoid the Jets.

Packers RB James Starks Suffers Concussion in Car Accident

2 of 8

Following a car accident from earlier in the week, Green Bay Packers running back James Starks is dealing with concussion-like symptoms.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Starks was not seen at practice on Thursday, lending further concern to his Week 15 status.

If Starks were to miss this week, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said Ty Montgomery could quite possibly have 20 carries "if he had to."

Montgomery is the way to go in the backfield here. Twenty carries is unlikely, but he'll play a role in the running and passing game against the Chicago Bears this week.

Colts WRs Moncrief, Hilton DNP Thursday

3 of 8

After suffering a hamstring injury in the Indianapolis Colts' Week 14 loss, it now appears wide receiver Donte Moncrief is unlikely to play this week after not practicing Thursday, according to Kevin Bowen of the Colts' official team site.

While being without Moncrief against the Minnesota Vikings would be a loss, it's sounding like No. 1 wide receiver T.Y. Hilton's availability is potentially in jeopardy.

As Rotoworld notes, Hilton did indeed miss practice due to a back injury on Thursday. However, as Rotoworld also points out, this was a normal pattern for Hilton last week—practice Wednesday and Friday with a day off in between. If he doesn't practice tomorrow, sound the alarms.

Going up against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15 without Moncrief (most likely), the area to attack them in is the tight end—the rank 24th in DVOA against them.

Fortunately for all of us, the Colts tight end position is in a virtual timeshare between Jack Doyle and Dwayne Allen, with each playing almost identical snaps over the past three weeks.

I'm not sure I can play a Colts pass-catcher this week. Hilton should be lower-owned against the Vikings, though. That makes him appealing.

Buccaneers WR Adam Humphries Clears Concussion Protocol

4 of 8

This is great news.

According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Adam Humphries has cleared the concussion protocol and should suit up in Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Unfortunately for Humphries, he'll draw coverage against Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick who's been (arguably) their best corner this season.

For the Bucs, I'm targeting wide receiver Mike Evans and tight end Cameron Brate in the passing game.

While Evans is a fairly obvious one, Brate should be in for a quality game after not pulling through with what fantasy owners would have liked out of him last week against the New Orleans Saints—the Cowboys are the 31st-ranked team in DVOA against tight ends.

Fire these guys up and don't look towards Humphries.

Falcons WR Julio Jones DNP Thursday

5 of 8

According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN, Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said in a press conference that wide receiver Julio Jones did not practice Thursday due to his lingering toe injury.

With that said, the team plans to try to "push" Jones' toe on Friday, according to Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

You know what this is sounding like, right? Another game-time decision.

Look, if Jones plays even at 70 percent I'd play him this week—he gets the San Francisco 49ers. He'll still be the best player on the field if he were missing a foot and running backwards.

Hopefully Friday brings better news. Be on the lookout.

Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz DNP Thursday

6 of 8

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Houston Texans tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz did not practice Thursday due to a concussion.

As quarterback Brock Osweiler's favorite target, this definitely hampers his value (yeah, like it could actually be any lower).

As a cheap option, fellow tight end Ryan Griffin isn't a terrible play, but the Jacksonville Jaguars have a solid linebacking group, so I'd probably pass.

Other than that, I'm taking a stand and absolutely, 100 percent not rostering any Texan the rest of the season. You shouldn't do it either.

It's a trap.

Patriots Claim Former Cardinals WR Michael Floyd off Waivers

7 of 8

That Patriot way, man.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the New England Patriots have claimed and have been awarded former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd just a short time after the Cardinals released him in the wake of his DUI arrest.

For DFS purposes, Floyd will play a miniscule role in Week 15 at best (if he plays at all). The Patriots playbook has been known to be notoriously difficult to pick up on by other players in years past, but it's almost impossible for Floyd to learn enough about the offense in, what? Three days?

This could be an interesting play during playoff DFS, however.

Stay tuned.

Bengals WR A.J. Green Practiced Thursday

8 of 8

After getting in a practice session on Wednesday, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green managed to get in a limited practice on Thursday, suffering no setbacks, according to Jim Owczarski of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

It's still unclear whether Green will play in Week 15, but Friday's practice report should give some additional insight.

If Green suits up, I'm playing him against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In 11 career games, Green has 131 targets, 71 receptions, 975 yards and six touchdowns.

Green gets up for these games, needless to say.

It's still more likely than not that Green sits, though.
