Fantasy Football Week 14: Wednesday's Daily Fantasy Market Report

Richard JanvrinDec 7, 2016

We're right on the heels of Week 14 of the fantasy football season with the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders starting us off this Thursday night.

It's safe to say that this game won't be as one-sided as the Monday night game between the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets. What was the final score? 41-10, Colts? Talk about the Jets being horrible.

There are some midweek updates, but to be honest—and based on the cover photo of this slideshow—you can imagine it's nothing thrilling.

There is a report that concerns a pass-catcher for the Chiefs, though.

Wednesday should be filled with more action, but let's get to covering Tuesday.

Buccaneers Promote WR Josh Huff to 53-Man Roster

1 of 7

Back in November, the Philadelphia Eagles waived wide receiver Josh Huff following a DUI, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added Huff to their practice squad.

With Cecil Shorts III and Adam Humphries injured, the Bucs wideout depth has seen better days. So, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bucs promoted Huff to their 53-man roster.

Huff is not on fantasy radars—he's better suited for special teams duties. The only thing Huff could potentially do is take snaps away from fellow wide receiver Freddie Martino.

Lions RB Dwayne Washington's Injury 'Not Too Serious'

2 of 7

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Detroit Lions running back Dwayne Washington's ankle injury from Week 13 is not believed to be "too serious."

As mentioned, in Detroit's Week 13 game against the New Orleans Saints, Washington suffered an ankle injury and was carted off the field.

If Washington suits up in Week 14, it's difficult to get on board with any Lions running back not named Theo Riddick.

Why?

Well, Washington has no more than 13 carries in a game and no more than 38 yards rushing in a game. Washington also hasn't scored since Week 1.

Yeah, he's a pass for me. No thanks.

49ers to Start Colin Kaepernick in Week 14

3 of 7

Not sure about you, but this doesn't surprise me at all.

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco 49ers will start Colin Kaepernick at quarterback in Week 14 against the New York Jets.

Yeah, Week 13 was perhaps the most embarrassing performance from a quarterback I've ever seen (five passing yards and one completion), but Week 14 is a new week. And it literally cannot get any worse.

The stats could be a little skewed after the Jets were demolished on Monday Night Football, but they currently rank second in DVOA against the run as opposed to 32nd in DVOA against the pass.

Kaepernick is valuable because of his rushing ability. The Jets defense could make running the ball tough, but it's different for a quarterback, especially if his rushes aren't designed runs. Kaepernick can outrun everyone on the field.

In the passing game, Kaepernick will have more than five yards.

Ringing endorsement, right?

I'm playing Kaepernick in Week 14. You should too.

Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin Full Participant in Practice Tuesday

4 of 7

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was a full participant in practice Tuesday.

Maclin has missed the team's last four games due to a groin injury.

I hate to say this, but Maclin's return is just a bad thing. A bad thing for tight end Travis Kelce, who's had over 100 receiving yards in three-straight weeks.

With Maclin coming back, quarterback Alex Smith will be spreading the ball around more. I want no part of "Smith" and "spread ball around." As it is, watching Smith is disorienting.

Good news for us? Smith and the Chiefs will be on Thursday Night Football against the Oakland Raiders, in what could be a high-scoring affair.

Redskins Want to Get RB Rob Kelley 'More Involved'

5 of 7

According to JP Finlay of CSN Mid-Atlantic, the Washington Redskins want to get running back Rob Kelley "more involved" the rest of the season.

Over the Redskins' last five contests, Kelley has averaged 19 carries a game, so for fantasy purposes, we'll take more than that. Carries equal fantasy points.

The new mindset comes after Kelley's 14-carry performance in a close game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 13. Redskins head coach Jay Gruden could be thinking Kelley's lack of touches was a contributing factor to the team's loss.

Kelley and the Redskins get the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14, a team that ranks ninth in DVOA against the run. This game should be close throughout, and the Redskins may be leading for much of it.

Because of this news, Kelley is a more intriguing option. His value in the passing game is essentially nothing, but if the Redskins are ahead, they'll be pounding the rock. We're banking on touchdowns and a ton of yards on the ground.

Priced at just $4,200 on DraftKings and $5,900 on FanDuel, I'll take a shot on Kelley. That's a nice lookin' price tag for someone who should get 20 carries in this game.

Cowboys Owner/GM Jerry Jones: No Plans to Rest Starters

6 of 7

According to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that the Cowboys do not plan on resting any starters, despite clinching a postseason berth.

In Week 14 this makes sense—there are still seeding implications. But in Week 17? I mean, why not? Let running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott heal up and get two weeks off, should the Cowboys be the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Week 14 could be a tough game for the Cowboys, as they travel to New Jersey to take on the New York Giants—the only team that's beaten them all season.

The Giants are tough against the pass and the run, ranking seventh and fifth in DVOA in those categories, respectively. They're such an up-and-down team overall that the Cowboys should win this game, but the Giants defense could be trouble for Prescott and company.

I'll never tell you not to roster Zeke in DFS—he's just too damn good. However, this could be a spot to fade Prescott and maybe wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Jets Bench QB Ryan Fitzpatrick; Will Play Bryce Petty Rest of Season

7 of 7

According to Kimberley A. Martin of Newsday Sports, New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will serve as the backup to Bryce Petty for the remainder of the season and the team has no plans to play Christian Hackenberg.

The Jets are just one big train wreck—a team I want zero part of in DFS for the rest of the season.

We're setting Petty's over/under mark for passing touchdowns in the last four games at 2.5. For one, he's just not that good, and for two, he's literally done nothing that should give anyone any confidence that he can give his teammates value.

This is obviously it for Fitzpatrick with the Jets, but this could also be it for his career. He was incredibly dreadful this season.
