Fantasy Football Week 12: Friday's Daily Fantasy Market Report

Richard JanvrinNov 25, 2016

Let me start off by saying I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving...fantasy football slate.

Also, good luck to all you crazy people going Black Friday shopping (yeah, I'm one of them).

With no teams on bye this week, we'll have everyone in action, but it's a matter of who's playing and who's not, per usual.

There are a couple notable stars with interesting developments ahead of Week 12 that will, without a doubt, alter your DFS plans for this week.

Before we get to them, let's delve into the Philadelphia Eagles backfield—there's a lot going on there.

Eagles RB Ryan Mathews DNP Thursday; Sproles Did

1 of 7

According to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, Philadelphia Eagles running back Ryan Mathews did not practice Thursday, while fellow running back Darren Sproles did.

This has been the indication all along: Sproles will play, Mathews will not.

As a result, we can expect the Eagles' other running back, Wendell Smallwood, to be the lead back in Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football.

Given Sproles' rib injury, he could see fewer carries, although he could remain involved in the passing game.

Either way, this is going to be all Smallwood. He'll be heavily owned in DFS this week, but for good reason.

In GPP's, it's OK to fade Smallwood since he'll be so highly owned, but he's going to be a safe option.

Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin DNP Thursday

2 of 7

It looks like we're going to be without Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin once again this week.

According to Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star, Maclin did not practice on Thursday, making him questionable for Week 12.

Even if Maclin did suit up, I can't trust any Chiefs pass-catching option with quarterback Alex Smith at the helm.

Couple Smith's "ability" with his team's matchup against the Denver Broncos and it's a "hell no" for any other player on the Chiefs roster.

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski Could Play

3 of 7

Well, well, well.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the New England Patriots have not "shut the door" on tight end Rob Gronkowski playing this week after the team announced he was able to get in a limited practice on Thursday.

In Week 12, the Patriots will take on the New York Jets, so there shouldn't be a rush to get Gronk back on the field—they'd be fine without him, though he's always a nice option to have.

The dude has an injury to his lung for crying out loud—take it easy now.

If Gronk suits up he's a must play, but we'll—hopefully—find out more Friday.

Cardinals WR Michael Floyd Added to Injury Report; DNP Thursday

4 of 7

It looks like the Arizona Cardinals could be without one of their starting wide receivers in Week 12.

According to ProFootballTalk, Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd was added to the team's injury report with a hamstring injury and did not practice Thursday.

Without Floyd, the Cardinals and quarterback Carson Palmer will be left with wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown.

The Cardinals will be on the road against the Atlanta Falcons, which is essentially wide receiver heaven, as the Falcons are giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers and the most to opposing quarterbacks.

Without Floyd in the fold, this makes Fitzgerald that much more of a top option with Floyd's leftover targets—he's averaging close to six per game over his last three games.

Patriots QB Tom Brady DNP Thursday; Sunday in Doubt?

5 of 7

If the New England Patriots were playing on Thanksgiving, we might not have seen quarterback Tom Brady out there.

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Brady did not practice on Thursday due to a knee injury.

As Howe also notes, this is the first time since 2010 that Brady missed two practices prior to a game.

While this is somewhat concerning, I wouldn't worry about it—Brady will play and shred the New York Jets in Week 12.

He's the top quarterback option this week.

I feel sorry for the Jets.

Eagles WR Bryce Treggs to See a Bigger Role

6 of 7

According to Zach Berman of the Philadelphia InquirerPhiladelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has said that wide receiver Bryce Treggs is "in a position to contribute more" as the season unfolds.

This is directly related to the struggles of incumbent starting receiver Nelson Agholor both on and off the field—he dropped a ton of balls this past week.

There are a number of other "new" receivers in the fold, including Paul Turner, who was promoted to the active roster earlier this week.

Agholor's taking a back seat helps fellow wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham the most initially. But we should take a wait-and-see approach when it comes to these young fellas—who knows who Pederson will use more.

DGB likely won't be highly owned in Week 12, but he gets a fantastic matchup with the Green Bay Packers, who have given up close to a million receiving yards the past two weeks.

Texans RB Alfred Blue "DNP" Thursday

7 of 7

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue would not have practiced Thursday if the team held practice.

It's not looking good for Lamar Miller's primary backup to play in Week 12, making Akeem Hunt the backup once again.

Hunt had just five carries in Week 11.

You're definitely not rostering Hunt this week, but Miller is an intriguing option against the San Diego Chargers. He had a nice outing in Week 11, but players might be weary of starting him since he's burned us so many times this season.
