Fantasy Football Week 11: Friday's Daily Fantasy Market Report
Week 11 of the fantasy football season kicked off Thursday night with the Carolina Panthers holding on to win 23-20 at home against the New Orleans Saints.
There were two major injuries in this game: Saints running back Mark Ingram and Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly, who was visibly upset while being carted off.
Both of these players were evaluated for concussion, according to the teams' respective Twitter accounts.
A lot of the news leading into the weekend consisted of players being limited in practice that will play, so I've attempted to muster up something.
Hopefully the remainder of Week 11 sheds the injury bug and stops at Thursday Night Football.
Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin DNP Thursday
1 of 7
According to Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was held out of practice once again on Thursday with a groin injury.
It's not looking good for Maclin given how late in the week it is. If he is able to practice even on a limited basis Friday, that should bode well for the veteran, but let's be real—ain't no way Maclin is playing.
Even if he plays, I'm avoiding the entire Chiefs passing attack—quarterback Alex Smith and head coach Andy Reid ruin all fantasy value the receivers could ever have.
Eagles TE Zach Ertz DNP Thursday
2 of 7
According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz did not practice Thursday but is confident he'll play in Week 11.
If Ertz gets in at least a limited session on Friday, chances are he'll play.
After an apparent lack of chemistry between Ertz and quarterback Carson Wentz earlier in the season, the two now appear to be on the same page, with Ertz getting eight and seven targets in Weeks 9 and 10, respectively.
Going up against the Seattle Seahawks and those linebackers? I'll chase tight end elsewhere this week, though this would make for the ultimate contrarian play.
Bills WR Percy Harvin 'Good to Go'
3 of 7
Well then.
According to Mike Rodak of ESPN.com, the Buffalo Bills are set to start wide receiver Percy Harvin in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Should you play Harvin this week in DFS?
Haha. No. Just no. And not only no, but hell no.
Packers WR/RB Ty Montgomery Returns to Practice
4 of 7
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, Green Bay Packers wide receiver/running back Ty Montgomery returned to practice Thursday after missing Wednesday's practice due to illness.
We knew all along Montgomery would likely be able to go in Week 11, but what we are wondering is how much he'll play and what he'll do in his playing time.
Over the last two weeks, Montgomery has not played in more than 45 percent of the Packers' snaps, and he accumulated just five total touches in Week 10.
With fellow running back James Starks back and Christine Michael now in the fold, the days of Montgomery getting carries could be over, thus sinking his fantasy value due to the depth at wide receiver the Packers have.
I'm not touching Montgomery in DFS in Week 11.
49ers WR Torrey Smith Limited in Practice
5 of 7
Dealing with a shoulder injury, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com.
Coming into the season, Smith was a personal favorite late-round option in season-long leagues, but he has been close to a ghost this entire season.
The 49ers passing attack is nothing to rave about, and Smith certainly isn't either.
Titans RB DeMarco Murray Back at Practice
6 of 7
This is great news.
According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessee Titans' official site, running back DeMarco Murray returned to a full practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday's session.
There was never a question as to whether or not Murray would play, but it's nice to see that he's essentially 100 percent.
Oh yeah—the Titans draw the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11, and they give up the 10th-most fantasy points to opposing running backs.
While that may not be all that appealing, Murray should have no problem scoring against the Colts in this spot. I'd play him.
Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski DNP Thursday
7 of 7
No surprise here, but it's worth mentioning.
According to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski did not practice Thursday.
In Week 10, Gronk took a vicious hit from Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas that resulted in a chest injury.
Something tells me that if this were a playoff game, or a game in which Gronk was needed, he'd play. But as Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported, expect Gronk to sit this one out and come back in Week 12.
Play fellow tight end Martellus Bennett in this instance. He's scoring this week.
