Fantasy Football Week 7: Wednesday's Daily Fantasy Market Report

Richard JanvrinOct 19, 2016

Tuesday brought one of the most important pieces of fantasy football news to this point of the season—the health of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

It turns out Big Ben will miss the next few weeks and will hopefully return after the team's bye week, according to Mark Kaboly of DK Pittsburgh Sports.

In the meantime, fellow quarterback Landry Jones will take over.

Uh oh.

Not to be harsh, but this definitely deteriorates some of wide receiver Antonio Brown's value.

Outside of Roethlisberger, there are a few other notable injuries to get to as well as some potential personnel changes on various teams.

Let's start with Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy and his ankle injury.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy to Miss Significant Time

1 of 7

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy is set to miss several weeks due to his ankle injury.

However, Adam Schefter of ESPN has since reported that Lacy will be seeking a second opinion on the ankle from Dr. Bob Anderson.

Either way, Lacy is going to miss some amount of time.

Besides, Lacy has stunk this season, and in season-long points-per-reception (PPR) leagues, he's the RB39.

In a corresponding move to the initial injury, not only did the Packers promote practice squad running back Don Jackson, but the team also traded for Kansas City Chiefs running back Knile Davis on Tuesday, according to Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star.

Davis was mostly a mess during his stint in Kansas City, so it's no surprise the Chiefs were willing to trade him for anything. They probably would have taken a fresh set of barbells in exchange for the fourth-stringer.

Anyway, all Packers running backs should be avoided for the near future until we get more clarity on who the lead guy is.

49ers RB Carlos Hyde Seen in Sling

2 of 7

It appears that the shoulder injury San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde ($5,600 DraftKings; $7,700 FanDuel) suffered in the team's Week 6 shellacking by the Buffalo Bills could potentially be more than what we initially thought.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, Hyde was spotted wearing a sling over his right arm at practice on Tuesday.

Most likely, this is just the best way to rest the shoulder, and given that he was able to return to the game in Week 6, this probably isn't something more significant.

The only player that can come back in a game and we can still be skeptical about is Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger—that guy could lose an arm, go to the sidelines for one play, take a sip of morphine and get back out there.

Going up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7, Hyde will get a defense that gives up the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs, but the rushing ability of quarterback Colin Kaepernick and potentially negative game script could impede Hyde's production.

I'm noncommittal when it comes to Hyde this week.

Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson Dealing with Potential ACL Injury

3 of 7

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN.com, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed wide receiver Vincent Jackson on injured reserve with a torn ACL, which was suffered in the team's Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Although Jackson has been placed on injured reserve, some of his season may still be salvaged—we're not entirely sure if it's his ACL.

Yet.

A source has told ESPN's Ed Werder (via ESPN.com's Jenna Laine) that the ACL tear diagnosis is not yet definitive, but he will still be on the shelf for at least eight weeks.

Before you say anything, no, that is not a typo—the Buccaneers were on a bye week in Week 6. Yes, it is weird we are just learning of this now.

Last season, Jackson missed six games due to knee injuries, so it wouldn't be all that surprising if the veteran sat a game or two out.

To be honest, I almost forgot VJax existed, but then again, who consciously knew Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Arrelious Benn was still hanging around?

With Jackson out for some time, fellow wide receiver Adam Humphries ($3,000 DK; $4,900 FD) should see an uptick in snaps. He's a fun option on DFS sites that are PPR-oriented, but don't go crazy. With that said, the Buccaneers will do battle against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.

And oh, that other wide receiver on the Buccaneers...oh yeah, Mike Evans ($7,800 DK; $8,000 FD)—he's going to feast on the 49ers this week. Get him in your lineups.

Broncos RB Devontae Booker to Be More Involved

4 of 7

According to Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com, Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak has said that he plans to get rookie running back Devontae Booker ($3,700 DK; $5,600 FD) more involved.

Finally.

Finally.

Finally.

Not sure you have noticed, but C.J. Anderson ($6,200 DK; $7,200 FD), the Broncos' incumbent starting running back, has been terrible over the past three games.

Over the past three games, Anderson has 79 more snaps and 22 more carries than Booker and has just 28 more yards.

That is brutal.

The Broncos will need to rely on their defense to maintain leads, and if they are unable to and fall behind, the game script for Broncos running backs goes south—and fast.

Given this potential time share, both players should be avoided, but from a real-life perspective, good move by Kubiak.

Texans WR Will Fuller Expected to Play Week 7

5 of 7

What Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien pulled in Week 6 with wide receiver Will Fuller ticked me off.

Leading up to Week 6, Fuller's availability was cast in serious doubt. Despite that, O'Brien ruled the rookie active and ready to go.

However, Fuller did not play a single snap in the Texans' win over the Indianapolis Colts.

No, you probably weren't playing Fuller anyway based off the injury and the circumstances, but why say a player is active only to sit him the entire game?

Whatever. Moving on.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, we should expect Fuller to be an active participant in Week 7.

With how terrible quarterback Brock Osweiler is playing, coupled with the Texans taking on a ferocious Denver Broncos defense, we're all set with this one.

Look elsewhere.

Bears TE Zach Miller Limited in Practice with Rib Injury

6 of 7

Looking back at previous Rotoworld blurbs, it seems as though limited practices are routine for Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller ($3,800 DK; $5,500 FD).

Leading up to Weeks 5 and 6, Miller was considered questionable with the same rib injury.

Same old, same old on Tuesday—Miller was limited in practice, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Nothing to be concerned with here—he's going to play on Thursday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers.

This is a solid matchup for Miller, who will take on a Packers defensive unit that gives up the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends and also has a quarterback in Brian Hoyer who is second in attempts over the past three weeks.

Get him in your lineups.

Jets RB Bilal Powell Sees More Snaps Than Matt Forte in Week 6

7 of 7

Since his first three weeks of fantasy dominance, New York Jets running back Matt Forte is the RB44 in PPR formats.

It's been a tough go of it for the veteran.

Not only is he struggling on the stat sheet, but he's being out-snapped to boot, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post.

Yes, the Jets have had a rough schedule these past few weeks, but honestly it doesn't matter—they downright stink regardless.

Moving forward, the Jets will likely trail in most games, thus altering the game script mightily for a guy like Forte. This will include the premier pass-catching running back—Bilal Powell—playing more often.

Expect the snaps to be all over the place from here on out.

There is absolutely no way I'm rostering Forte in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Starting Forte spells disaster.
