Fantasy Football Week 13: Matt Camp's Week 13 Big Board
When setting your fantasy football lineups this late in the NFL season, take your time with the decisions. I know you’re excited about must-win games, but I’m baffled when I get lineup questions early in the week, especially when the decisions include injured players.
For instance, San Diego Chargers wide receiver Tyrell Williams has a labrum issue in his shoulder and “his status is worth monitoring” this week, according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Williams has been the top wide receiver for the Chargers this season and a big fantasy contributor. A decision on his status can’t be made until we see how he does in practice.
Arguably the top-two tight ends in fantasy football, Rob Gronkowski (back) and Jordan Reed (shoulder), both had to leave Week 12 with injuries and aren’t locks to play this week. Of course, because they're both so talented, you’ll want to wait as long as possible to see if they have a chance to play on Sunday.
Inserting someone like Aaron Rodgers into your quarterback spot might be easy, but make sure to gather up as much information as possible when constructing the rest of your lineup.
Here’s my first look at the points-per-reception (PPR) rankings for Week 13. These will change throughout the week and up to Sunday’s action as we get more information about injuries and limitations, so make sure to bookmark this page.
Top 100
1 of 7
I present my top 100 players (minus quarterbacks) for the week as a way to help determine your flex spots. You may favor a certain position or player over another based on his role and/or your scoring rules.
As an additional tiebreaker, here are the teams I like as a whole this week based on their matchups:
- Atlanta Falcons (vs. Kansas City Chiefs)
- Seattle Seahawks (vs. Carolina Panthers)
- New York Jets (vs. Indianapolis Colts)

Quarterbacks
2 of 7
Better than Usual
Russell Wilson, SEA (vs. CAR)
Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks came out flat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and never recovered. Wilson went 17-of-33 passing for just 151 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. However, he ran for 80 yards on eight carries after coming into the game with 79 rushing yards for the entire season.
The Seahawks head back home this week to take on the struggling Carolina Panthers. They’ve given up at least 285 passing yards to quarterbacks in five of their last six games, including 315 yards and two touchdowns to the Oakland Raiders last week. Wilson has a great chance to get back on track with this favorable matchup, especially if he can keep up the rushing production we saw last week.
Week 13 Projection: 265-275 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 35 rushing yards
Concerns
Kirk Cousins, WAS (at ARI)
Over the last four games, Cousins has 1,544 yards, 10 touchdowns and just one interception, making him one of the best fantasy quarterbacks in the last month. The Washington Redskins lost to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, but Cousins still managed to complete 41 of 53 attempts for 449 yards and three touchdowns. It marked the second time in four games he threw for at least 449 yards and multiple touchdowns.
Cousins and the Redskins will get one of their toughest defensive matchups of the season when they travel to Arizona to face the Cardinals in Week 13. Last week, Arizona surrendered 269 yards and two touchdowns to Matt Ryan, which was a season-high in yards allowed and only the second time the Cardinals gave up two passing touchdowns in a game this season. A similar performance isn’t out of the question for Cousins, but don’t expect the inflated numbers from last week.
Week 13 Projection: 255-265 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception
Cam Newton, CAR (at SEA)
Newton and the Carolina Panthers looked lifeless on offense in the first half of last week’s game in Oakland. They rallied in the second half against the Raiders, but they couldn’t hold the 32-24 lead they gained after going down 24-7 in the first half. Newton finished with 246 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and an interception on 14-of-29 passing with three carries for six yards including a three-yard touchdown run.
Over the last four weeks, Newton is 12th in fantasy scoring among quarterbacks, so he’s on the low-end of starting options. The confidence level for Newton isn’t very high right now, and a matchup against the Seahawks in Seattle couldn’t be coming at a worse time. While they lost to Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, they still limited him to 220 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. It won’t be easy for Newton on Sunday night.
Week 13 Projection: 230-240 passing yards, 1 passing touchdown, 25 rushing yards
Dak Prescott, DAL (at MIN)
Prescott didn’t do a lot in last week’s victory over the Washington Redskins, but he did enough. He completed 17 of 24 attempts for a season-low 195 passing yards and a passing touchdown to go along with 39 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on eight carries. It was Prescott’s third game out of the last four with at least 70 percent of his passes completed.
He might be the No. 5 fantasy quarterback over the last four weeks, but that doesn’t mean he’s bulletproof. Prescott faces a stiff challenge on the road from the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night.
They’ve been a top-10 defense versus fantasy quarterbacks over the last four weeks. Other than Marcus Mariota’s 271 yards in Week 1, no other quarterback has thrown for 270 yards on the Vikings. While the Cowboys can win without a big game from Prescott, you might think twice about using him in your fantasy lineup.
Week 13 Projection: 220-230 passing yards, 1 passing touchdown, 20 rushing yards
Avoid
Trevor Siemian, DEN (at JAC)
Siemian is coming off his best fantasy performance of the season with 368 passing yards and three passing touchdowns on 20-of-34 passing in addition to 23 rushing yards on five carries. As of Wednesday night, Sieman is considered day-to-day with a left foot injury. While Siemian’s thrown for at least 258 yards and two touchdowns in his last three games, if he's healthy, it doesn’t mean you should be running to play him this week when the Denver Broncos travel to visit the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Even though Jacksonville is quickly falling out of contention, its defense has shown clear improvement after early-season struggles. The Jaguars limited opposing quarterbacks to the seventh-fewest fantasy points in the last four weeks. Three of their last four opponents failed to throw for 200 yards. You’re better off steering clear of Siemian this week.
Week 13 Projection: 210-220 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
Sleepers
Colin Kaepernick, SF (at CHI)
Who would have guessed that Kaepernick’s return to the starting job in San Francisco would lead to a month of strong performances before the start of the fantasy playoffs? The 49ers lost again last week, but Kaepernick had 296 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and one interception on 29-of-46 passing against the Miami Dolphins. He boosted his fantasy value with 113 rushing yards on 10 carries.
Aaron Rodgers is the top fantasy quarterback over the last four weeks, but Kaepernick is right behind him at No. 2, which no one expected to happen. Now that he’s done it for a month, it makes him easier to trust, especially when the matchup’s in his favor like this week against the Chicago Bears. In the last month, the Bears check in as the 12th-worst defense against fantasy quarterbacks. It should be another good week for Kaepernick.
Week 13 Projection: 245-255 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, 45 rushing yards

Running Backs
3 of 7
Better than Usual
Jordan Howard, CHI (vs. SF)
With 84 rushing yards on 18 carries and three receptions for 43 yards on five targets, Howard had his fifth game of the season with 100 total yards in a loss to the Tennessee Titans last week. Very little is going right for the Chicago Bears, but at least they’ve been smart enough to commit to Howard, and he’s rewarded them with a strong season.
He has a good chance to improve on last week’s numbers with a favorable matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. In the last four weeks, no team has given up more fantasy points to running backs than the 49ers. Don’t be fooled by how they limited Jay Ajayi to 45 yards on 18 carries last week since he was without three starting offensive linemen. Howard should be busy and productive, which is why he’s the only Bear you can totally trust for fantasy.
Week 13 Projection: 20 carries, 102 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 28 receiving yards
Concerns
Latavius Murray, OAK (vs. BUF)
It seems like the Oakland Raiders want to commit to Murray more down the stretch, and we saw that on display last week when he had 45 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries and three receptions for 43 yards on four targets in a win over the Carolina Panthers. That’s his third game of the last five with at least 18 carries. Also, he hit a season-high with 66 percent of the carries in Week 12.
The Raiders might be rolling, but Murray and company won’t have it easy against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon. Even though the Jacksonville Jaguars running backs totaled 100 rushing yards against the Bills last week, it took 28 carries to hit that number. Murray isn’t getting that much volume, so he’ll need to contribute as a receiver to make up for lost production as a runner. The Bills are a top-three defense against fantasy running backs in the last four weeks.
Week 13 Projection: 18 carries, 64 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 24 receiving yards
Jay Ajayi, MIA (at BAL)
The Miami Dolphins were without three starters on the offensive line in Week 12, so despite a great matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, Ajayi wasn’t able to do much. He finished with 45 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on 18 carries and one reception for 11 yards on two targets. That’s Ajayi's third-straight game without at least 100 rushing yards, so he’s cooled off a bit.
This week won’t be a great chance for Ajayi and the Dolphins rushing attack to heat up, playing against the Baltimore Ravens. No team has given up fewer fantasy points to running backs in the last four weeks. They’ve given up 100 rushing yards just three times all season.
Week 13 Projection: 18 carries, 69 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 21 receiving yards
Robert Kelley, WAS (at ARI)
Kelley had done nothing but improve his numbers in each of the three games since he took over for Matt Jones, but that ended in Week 12 when he faced the Dallas Cowboys. Kelley was limited to just 37 yards on 14 carries and two receptions for five yards on two targets. Because he doesn’t have much of a role as a receiver, it limits his upside and chances of making up for rough performances on the ground.
He might have a tough time getting back on track this week in Arizona. The Cardinals allowed just one group of running backs to rush for 100 yards this season, and that hasn’t happened since the Buffalo Bills did it in Week 3. While they gave up three rushing touchdowns to the Atlanta Falcons running backs last week, they limited them to just 69 yards on 24 carries. Kelley needs volume to have a chance at a decent fantasy performance.
Week 13 Projection: 19 carries, 60 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 12 receiving yards
Avoid
None of note.
Sleepers
Dion Lewis, NE (vs. LA)
In his second game back, Lewis’ snap total rose from 27 percent in Week 11 to 32 percent in Week 12. He carried six times for 24 yards and had four receptions for 34 yards on seven targets. That kept things pretty even between him, LeGarrette Blount (11 carries for 67 yards on 37 percent) and James White (four receptions for 22 yards on nine targets at 36 percent).
Lewis is trending up, and while he didn’t outsnap White last week, he did have more touches, which should be the case going forward since White doesn’t do much on the ground. Lewis should be worth using this week with confidence since the Los Angeles Rams allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs in the last four weeks.
Week 13 Projection: 7 carries, 28 rushing yards, 5 receptions, 40 receiving yards

Wide Receivers
4 of 7
Better than Usual
Brandon Marshall, NYJ (vs. IND)
Marshall and the New York Jets put up a strong fight against the New England Patriots but ultimately came up short. Marshall caught six of nine targets for 67 yards and a touchdown. It was his first touchdown since Week 5, which was also the last time he had 100 yards and double-digit targets.
Ryan Fitzpatrick remains the starter for the Jets in this week’s matchup with the visiting Indianapolis Colts. He may not be part of the future for the Jets, but he’s the best option for fantasy purposes. No team has given up more fantasy points to wide receivers in the last four weeks. Marshall needs all the help he can get to produce strong fantasy output.
Week 13 Projection: 6 receptions, 75 yards, 1 touchdown
Concerns
Demaryius Thomas, DEN (at JAC)
Week 12 was another five-catch performance for Thomas, as he totaled just 60 yards on eight targets. That snapped a streak of five games with double-digit targets. Thomas has just one 100-yard effort all season and one game with more than six receptions. He’s been consistent, but he continues to hit his head on a lower ceiling than we’ve seen in previous years.
Thomas has been a disappointment when the matchups have been good, so it’s hard to feel optimistic about his chances against an improved Jacksonville Jaguars defense. In fact, no team has handled fantasy wide receivers better than the Jaguars over the last four weeks. Curb your enthusiasm when it comes to Thomas in Week 13.
Week 13 Projection: 5 receptions, 65 yards
Avoid
None of note.
Sleepers
Quincy Enunwa, NYJ (vs. IND)
Enunwa was a pleasant surprise early in the season, but he has been up-and-down ever since and is coming off an up week against the New England Patriots in Week 12. He hauled in all five of his targets for 109 yards, including an outstanding 22-yard touchdown reception. It puts him back on the fantasy radar after totaling two receptions for 32 yards on 10 targets in the previous two games.
Taking a shot on Enunwa isn’t a bad idea considering the circumstances. The Indianapolis Colts gave up the most fantasy points to wide receivers in the last four weeks thanks to 43 receptions, 589 yards and seven touchdowns. Ryan Fitzpatrick gets another start for the Jets and does have chemistry with Enunwa, so if you’re reaching deep, the situation looks pretty good for Enunwa.
Week 13 Projection: 5 receptions, 70 yards

Tight Ends
5 of 7
Better than Usual
Kyle Rudolph, MIN (vs. DAL)
In what may be a neverending hunt to find a reliable tight end, many have probably used Rudolph at various points this season with different levels of success. If you played him in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals, he caught just two of three targets for 12 yards. He bounced back with nine receptions for 64 yards on 10 targets in the loss to the Detroit Lions.
Can you trust him to follow up with another solid performance this week? Well, the matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night helps. They allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends in the last four weeks. This could be one of Rudolph’s best chances over the final stretch of the season, so hopefully he comes through when you need him the most.
Week 13 Projection: 6 receptions, 63 yards, 1 touchdown
C.J. Fiedorowicz, HOU (at GB)
Fiedorowicz has stuck on fantasy rosters, but likely not as a locked-in, every-week starter. He caught just four of six targets for 42 yards in last week’s loss to the San Diego Chargers. That continues a pattern of scoring double-digit fantasy points (in PPR formats) in every other game. If you believe in that pattern, Fiedorowicz is due to come through for your fantasy team this week.
The matchup against the Green Bay Packers certainly doesn’t hurt Fiedorowicz’s chances. In the last four weeks, no team allowed more fantasy points to tight ends than the Packers. They gave up at least six receptions to tight ends in four of the last five games. Tight ends also racked up at least 60 yards on the Packers in four of the last five games. The pattern should continue for Fiedorowicz.
Week 13 Projection: 5 receptions, 56 yards, 1 touchdown
Concerns
Vernon Davis, WAS (at ARI)
The Washington Redskins may call on Davis once again after Jordan Reed suffered a shoulder injury in Week 12. Head coach Jay Gruden confirmed the injury when he told ESPN 980 radio that Reed is dealing with a “Grade 3 AC joint separation,” per John Keim of ESPN.com. Reed hasn’t worked in early-week practice, so his status will be monitored throughout the week.
While Davis did a nice job filling in for Reed when he had his concussion earlier this season, if he’s called on to step in this week, it comes with a terrible matchup at Arizona. The Cardinals represent the best defense against tight ends over the last four weeks and have yet to give up a touchdown to a tight end all season. Davis might be nothing more than a desperation play in both fantasy and reality.
Week 13 Projection: 4 receptions, 44 yards
Avoid
None of note.
Sleepers
Ladarius Green, PIT (vs. NYG)
Is it time for Green to break out? In last week’s win over the Indianapolis Colts, Green caught two of three targets for 67 yards on a season-high 26 percent of the snaps. That could change this week based on comments made by head coach Mike Tomlin.
According to Dale Lolley of the Observer-Reporter, Tomlin said he’s “excited about potential contributions from Ladarius Green moving forward.” He also “expects increased reps moving forward.” The timing could work out nicely with the New York Giants on the schedule this week. They’ve been a bottom-10 defense against tight ends in the last four weeks, so he could have a chance to take advantage of more reps and a nice matchup.
Week 13 Projection: 5 receptions, 64 yards

Defenses
6 of 7
Best Options Based on Matchups
Denver Broncos (at JAC)
A picture of Blake Bortles would probably be all the evidence you need to use the Broncos with confidence this weekend, but I’ll go into a little more detail to hammer the point home. Over the last four weeks, the Jacksonville Jaguars allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses by giving up six sacks, four interceptions, five fumble recoveries and three touchdowns (two defense, one special teams), while scoring just 75 points during that span.
Week 13 Projection: 3 sacks, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, 15-18 points allowed
Seattle Seahawks (vs. CAR)
Even after last week’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Seahawks remain a top-12 defense over the last month with nine sacks, five interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a safety with 78 points allowed in their last four games. They have a good chance to improve on that standing against the visiting Carolina Panthers in Week 13. Carolina allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing defenses in the last four weeks thanks in part to 11 sacks on Cam Newton.
Week 13 Projection: 3 sacks, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, 20-23 points allowed

Kickers
7 of 7
Best Options Widely Available on the Waiver Wire
Wil Lutz, NO
Lutz may not have had a field goal in last week’s win over the Los Angeles Rams, but he still booted seven extra points. With the Saints scoring in bunches, he has five field goals and 16 extra points over the last four weeks. The Saints have a favorable matchup at home with the Detroit Lions on Sunday, so Lutz should have another busy and productive performance.
