NFL Preseason Week 3 Betting Preview: Dolphins, Seahawks Are Thursday Favorites

OddsShark.comAug 22, 2016

The most important week of the NFL preseason will kick off Thursday with a pair of key games, as the Miami Dolphins host the Atlanta Falcons and the Dallas Cowboys visit the Seattle Seahawks.

Both home teams are favorites at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark, with the Seahawks among the biggest as five-point chalk.

Seattle and Dallas are both 1-1 straight up through their first two preseason games. But the former figures to have an edge at quarterback, with Russell Wilson expected to see much more playing time than he has so far in a week teams play their starters the most.

The Seahawks are also 1-1 against the spread after an 18-11 home loss to the Minnesota Vikings last Thursday, with the under cashing for the second time in as many games.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys improved to 2-0 ATS following an easy cover in a 41-14 rout of the Dolphins at home last Friday in what closed as a pick 'em game.

Coming off a collarbone injury, Tony Romo made his preseason debut at quarterback for Dallas before giving way to rookie Dak Prescott, who turned in his second straight impressive performance with 199 yards on 12-of-15 passing and two touchdowns.

Miami saw starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill throw for 162 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, with both scores going to wide receiver Kenny Stills. Tannehill hopes to lead the Dolphins to victory in their first preseason home game after splitting the first two on the road.

The Dolphins routed the New York Giants 27-10 as one-point underdogs in their opener before getting crushed by the Cowboys last week.

The Atlanta Falcons will visit Miami as one of eight unbeaten NFL teams in the preseason at 2-0 SU and ATS. The Falcons defeated the Washington Redskins 23-17 as three-point home favorites in their opener before knocking off the Cleveland Browns 24-13 as one-point road underdogs last Thursday.

Atlanta is 4-2 SU and ATS in the preseason, according to the Odds Shark NFL Database, under second-year head coach Dan Quinn, who served as defensive coordinator with Seattle from 2013-14.
