Norman and Beckham's saga began in Week 15 of the 2015 season, when Norman was the jewel of the Carolina Panthers secondary.
The encounter between one of the league's top corners and one of its top receivers turned into a brawl, with five combined personal fouls assessed. Here's a look, via the NFL:
Beckham was suspended for one game, while Norman was hit with a combined $26,044 worth of fines, per ESPN.com's David Newton.
While this used to be a matchup that could take place once a year at most, Norman's signing with the Redskins ensured that football fans will get to see the pair go at it twice a year for the foreseeable future.
They haven't wasted any time chirping back and forth since then, with Beckham recently telling GQ's upcoming August issue that Norman has "become so relevant" because of him (via ESPN.com's John Keim).
"I don’t even know how you respond to that other than laugh," Norman said, per Scott Allen of the Washington Post. "I don’t know what you get out of that. I don’t know, man. There’s a time when people who honor themselves will fall short, so when that day comes, we’ll just see."
Norman was quick to shoot back, referencing Beckham's one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys during the 2014 season as the only reason he is relevant, per Zach Braziller of the New York Post.
It's difficult enough for NFL officials to police a game when tensions run high. But the referees tasked with calling a Giants-Redskins tilt next year could be in for one of the toughest jobs of their careers.
