Flacco Comments on Injury
Wednesday, Oct. 19
"It's nothing to worry about," Flacco said after practice on Wednesday, per Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun. "I have a little shoulder soreness so we just thought it was best to take a day off and see how it feels tomorrow."
He added:
"I'm not nervous. Like I said, I think today, just staying there and doing some rehab and trying to get it warmed up a little bit is probably the best thing. … It's not about being pain-free. You can deal with a little pain. It's about making sure you can go out there and throw the ball well enough to help your team.
"
Flacco's Presence Vital to Ravens Offense
Flacco tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee during the final minute of the Ravens' 16-13 Week 11 win over the St. Louis Rams last season, but he's been healthy ever since he returned for the start of the 2016 campaign.
In his ninth NFL season, Flacco has completed 62.1 percent of his passes for 1,589 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions in an offense that hasn't been able to take advantage of his big arm and create explosive plays downfield.
"We just make it so tough on ourselves," Flacco said on Oct. 5, according to ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley. "We throw the ball 50 times, and we only have 300 yards. You know, we have to move the ball down the field so methodically."
If the Super Bowl 47 MVP is forced to miss game action this season, Ryan Mallett projects as his temporary replacement. In two starts with the Ravens last season, Mallett completed 58 of 97 passes for 566 yards and two touchdowns along with two interceptions.
