Security Reportedly Told Jets' Nick Mangold to Chill Out During Penguins-Rangers

Kyle NewportApr 20, 2016

When New York Jets center Nick Mangold goes to New York Rangers games, he does everything in his power to provide the Blueshirts with home-ice advantage.

Even if it means risking getting thrown out of the arena.

Mangold grabbed the spotlight earlier this year when a photo of him giving the Dallas Stars the business surfaced on the Internet. That was just regular-season Mangold. Playoff Mangold is apparently even more intense.

Mangold attended Game 3 of the series between the Rangers and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night along with Eric Decker, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Bryce Petty.

According to Zach Braziller of the New York Post, the Jets center was giving it to the Pittsburgh bench so much—allegedly going at Penguins assistant coach Rick Tocchet and center Sidney Crosby the hardest—that security had to come over multiple times to tell him to chill.

Twitter user @szschron1 captured video of the fired-up NFL player:

The New York Post asked Mangold about his heckling after the game, but all he had to say was "I don't know what you're talking about."

The 32-year-old center may be an NFL player, but when he goes to a sporting event as a fan, he is just like every other diehard. And he wants to make sure the visiting team doesn't get too comfortable.

Unfortunately for Mangold, his heckling wasn't enough to get inside the Penguins' heads. Pittsburgh pulled out a 3-1 victory to take a 2-1 series lead.
