That list includes linebacker and potential first-round pick Jaylon Smith and quarterback Everett Golson, who ended his collegiate career at Florida State.
Smith was poised to enter the draft as one of its top prospects, but after injuring his knee in the Fiesta Bowl, there are major question marks regarding his health.
According to College Football 24/7, NFL Network's Mike Mayock revealed there is a great deal of concern across the league when it comes to Smith's health:
Despite that, the 2015 Butkus Award winner insisted at the NFL Scouting Combine that he is the best in the 2016 draft, per NFL Network:
It is unclear how much Smith will be able to take part in the pro day, but even the slightest bit of participation could go a long way toward easing worries about his knee.
Golson decided to return to ND for his pro day after his tenure at FSU ended under less than ideal circumstances with Sean Maguire passing him on the depth chart.
He transferred from the Fighting Irish to the Seminoles more than one year after getting suspended for academic misconduct, but he believes that taking part in Notre Dame's pro day is his best path toward getting drafted.
Golson was not invited to the combine, which is something he has tried to put behind him, according to ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss: "I mean, it is what it is. I'm disappointed. But you take what you get, and you go along with it and try to make the best of it. So that's where I am right now."
While the overall quality of the 2016 quarterback class is somewhat of a question mark, there appears to be a great deal of depth on paper.
That hinders Golson's chances of getting selected in the draft, but if he manages to dazzle during his pro day workout, then that could quickly change.
Add in other intriguing prospects, such as offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley, wide receiver Will Fuller and running back CJ Prosise, and Notre Dame's pro day promises to be among the most heavily attended and monitored by NFL teams prior to the draft.
