New York Giants defensive lineman Jay Bromley was under investigation after being accused of attempting to rape a woman at a New York City hotel on Jan. 30.

Tina Moore, Larry Celona and Natalie Musumeci of the New York Post reported Bromley met the alleged victim online and then in person at the hotel. She said he became violent after a consensual sexual act, tried to rape her and then hit her with his car as he left the hotel.

The report stated the 26-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.

On Friday, Dan Graziano of ESPN reported, per Bromley's lawyer Alex Spiro, that the defensive lineman has been "officially cleared of all wrongdoing.”

The Giants picked Bromley in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft out of Syracuse. After limited action as a rookie, his role increased this season, as he tallied 36 combined tackles while appearing in all 16 games, including four starts.

Bromley, 23, is under contract with New York for two more seasons, according to Spotrac.
