Galette Expects to Be Back in Washington
Monday, Jan. 11
Galette told Rich Tandler of CSN Mid-Atlantic that he should be ready to return before organized team activities this offseason and expects to be back with Washington.
Galette even got a tattoo of the team's logo, per Brian McNally of 106.7 The Fan:
The 27-year-old signed a one-year deal with Washington this offseason after he was cut by the New Orleans Saints, just one year after signing a four-year, $41.5 million contract extension with the team. He was cut due to character concerns.
He posted 31.5 sacks and 128 tackles in five seasons with the Saints and appeared to be developing into one of the league's top pass-rushers after notching 22 sacks in his last two seasons with the team.
Off-field issues remain a concern for Galette, however. The league suspended him two games this season for his involvement in a domestic issue last January. He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor simple battery/domestic violence, though the charges were dropped.
Because Galette was already out for the season with an injury when his punishment was levied in November, the league took two of his game checks.
Teams looking to bolster their pass rush will certainly be intrigued by Galette, though it sounds as though the edge-rusher is only interested in returning to Washington. If that interest isn't mutual, however, he should have plenty of suitors interested in signing him.
