Daily Fantasy Football December 7: DFS Stock Up, Stock Down

David KenyonDec 7, 2015

Some of the NFL's biggest stars shined brightly during Week 13 of daily fantasy footballย on DraftKings, but a few underrated names stole the already glowing spotlight.

However, a few touted players dropped the ball for DFS participants, and unlike Adrian Peterson's tough day, it wasn't always the product of a poor matchup.

Sunday's performance was the biggest factor in the compilation of the list, while upcoming matchups also played a role.ย Use this information as a brief recap and a basis to start your research for Week 14.

Stock Up: Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills

1 of 6

Everyone's favorite early-season DFS darling is back.

Tyrod Taylor only completed 11 of 21 passes, but the Buffalo Bills' dual-threat quarterback tossed three touchdowns and ran for another versus the Houston Texans.

Most impressively, though, just 0.3 percent of Millionaire Maker participants put Taylor on their roster despite his appealing $5,200 salary and 27.24-point performance last week.

Considering the Bills take on the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday, Taylor's stock will rise considerably.

Stock Down: Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

2 of 6

Matt Ryan's price had trickled down from $7,200 over the past few weeks, and it plummeted from $6,900 to $6,100 in Week 13 for good reason.

The Atlanta Falcons simply cannot finish drives. That's not exactly a terrific reflection on the quarterback.

Ryan led the Atlanta offense into Tampa Bay Buccaneers territory six times yet managed a single touchdown. He finished 30-of-45 for 269 yards, tallying one score and one interception.

Next up for Ryan and Co. is a road matchup with the Carolina Panthers. He'll probably look like a bargain, but Ryan isn't to be trusted.

Stock Up: Javorius Allen, Baltimore Ravens

3 of 6

Javorius Allen has excelled in a small sample size as Justin Forsett's replacement.

The Baltimore Ravens rookie out of USC has averaged 24 touches over the last three games, but Allen's greatest fantasy contribution is his pass-catching abilityโ€”especially on points-per-reception scoring systems like DraftKings.

On Sunday, Allen grabbed 12 passes for 107 yards and scored a touchdown versus the Miami Dolphins. He registered an even 38 points for the 8.1 percent of prudent Millionaire Maker owners who selected him.

Since the Ravens host the Seattle Seahawks next week, Allen probably won't accrue many rushing yards. However, his PPR prowess makes him a reasonably inexpensive, decent option.

Stock Down: Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings

4 of 6

Adrian Peterson isn't much of a pass-catcher, so he wasn't a factor against the Seahawks.

The Minnesota Vikings fell behind 21-0 during the first half, so Teddy Bridgewater had to keep throwing. Peterson doesn't fit pass-happy comeback mode.

He trudged to 18 yards on eight carries, adding four receptions for six yards for a grand total of 6.4 DFS pointsโ€”Peterson's lowest output of the year.

Minnesota and the Arizona Cardinals will engage in a Thursday Night Footballย battle. Arizona's defense hasn't allowed a 100-yard rusher since Week 3. That doesn't bode well for Peterson on short rest.

Stock Up: Doug Baldwin, Seattle Seahawks

5 of 6

All right, Doug Baldwin. You have our attention.

One week after a six-catch, 145-yard, three-touchdown outburst versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Seattle Seahawks wideout nabbed five receptions for 94 yards, two scores and 26.4 DFS points against the Vikings.

Baldwin cost a mere $3,800, greatly rewarding the 5.3 percent of hopeful millionaires bold enough to project another productive game.

Relying on a third consecutive day is a dangerous prospect, but Baltimore's secondary is suspect at best. Baldwin has earned a place in the conversation for Week 14.

Stock Down: Amari Cooper, Oakland Raiders

6 of 6

No, the sky is not falling on Amari Cooper. He remains near the top of the NFL rookie rankings.

Regardless, his Sunday wasn't great. Cooper nabbed four passes for 69 yards versus the Kansas City Chiefs, which isn't a nice day for DFS purposes. Unfortunately for him, next Sunday probably won't be much better.

The Oakland Raiders hit the road to challenge the Denver Broncos, who flaunt one of the league's best cornerback duos in Chris Harris Jr. and Aqib Talib. They limited Cooper to four catches and 47 yards earlier this season.

Cooper will likely run a $6,000-plus price tag, and the risk might not be worth the expense.
