Witten Hoping to Become 11th Player with 1,000 Career Receptions
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten enters Monday's game against the Washington Redskins needing just two more catches to become the 11th or 12th player in NFL history with 1,000 or more career receptions, per Pro-Football-Reference.com.
Sitting at 998 catches for 11,010 yards and 59 touchdowns through 202 career regular-season appearances, the 33-year-old Cowboys mainstay ranks first in franchise history for receptions, second for receiving yards and third for receiving touchdowns.
Witten is also in 32nd place on the all-time receiving yards list, needing just 50 yards in Sunday's game to pass Chad Johnson/Ochocinco (11,059) for the No. 31 spot.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
While a decent bet to become the 11th player with 1,000 career receptions, Witten may only end up being the 12th, as Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will enter a Sunday game against the St. Louis Rams with 992 catches to his name.
With Witten's Cowboys not playing until Monday, Fitzgerald gets the first crack at the milestone.
Regardless, both players will join the exclusive club some time in the coming weeks, and they should soon have company from San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who enters Week 13 with 984 career receptions.
Of course, with the feat becoming increasingly common in a pass-first league, there will probably be 20 or more players with 1,000 or more career receptions by 2025.
