Nationals' Team Calendar Features Fenway Park Instead of Nationals Park

Kyle NewportJun 7, 2018

As great an image as this might be, this photo was not taken at Nationals Park.

That's an issue, because the photo was used in a Washington Nationals' 2016 team calendar with the words "Nationals Park" and "Washington, D.C.," below.

Whoops.

This photo was taken at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. Even though there is a giant American flag covering it, it's easy to see the Green Monster in left field, the most iconic stadium feature in sports.

At least the photo was from a game the Nationals were involved in. This photo appears to be from Boston's 2015 home opener, which was against Washington.

The Nationals may not be to blame for the mistake. It's likely that the company that produced the calendar made the error. Either way, it's just another thing that went wrong for the team in 2015.

MLB has issued a statement on the mistake:

"

Our licensee used an incorrect photo in its 2016 Nationals calendar, a product that the Nationals were not involved in producing. We are working quickly to rectify the situation including recalling the calendars from retail.

"

Hopefully this matter is resolved quickly.
