Jarryd Hayne Waived by 49ers: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
The Jarryd Hayne era with the San Francisco 49ers has come to an end after the team waived the former rugby star.
The 49ers announced the move on their official website on Saturday, with Kendall Gaskins being promoted from the practice squad to take Hayne's spot on the active roster. San Francisco needed another running back for its Week 8 game against the St. Louis Rams, with Carlos Hyde ruled out due to a foot injury.
"I made the decision to bring up a power back," head coach Jim Tomsula said following the team's loss to the Rams on Sunday, per Mindi Bach of CSN Bay Area.

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reported that Hayne cleared waivers on Monday, adding that this "clears his way to rejoin the 49ers" on their 53-man roster or practice squad.
Hayne was one of the most talked-about players during the preseason, dazzling with his ability to create plays on special teams.
After making San Francisco's 53-man roster prior to the regular season, though, the 27-year-old struggled to translate his preseason work to the games that count. Hayne had 108 all-purpose yards and three fumbles on just 17 touches.
He may get a second chance to prove himself as an NFL player with another team, but his brief time in San Francisco did show the limitations that a player with no previous experience in the sport can have. He needs more time to develop those skills, so finding a spot as a practice-squad player would be the best thing for him right now.
