Patterson Active vs. Bears

Monday, Oct. 31

The Vikings announced Patterson was available to play Monday against Chicago.

Latest on Patterson's Playing Status

Saturday, Oct. 29

After the Vikings disclosed on their official injury report that Patterson suffered a concussion, they listed him as questionable for Monday night's game against the Bears. They also added that he was limited in practice on Saturday.

Underwhelming Patterson Still a Vital Piece to Vikings

Patterson's production had declined sharply ever since he broke out for nine total touchdowns and a Pro Bowl nod as a rookie in 2013. Specifically, he totaled just two touchdowns apiece in 2014 and 2015, with both of his scores last year coming via kick returns.

But Patterson has been a contributor to the Minnesota passing game this season with Sam Bradford at the helm after Teddy Bridgewater went down with a season-ending injury.

In six games in 2016, Patterson posted 18 catches for 158 yards, which ranks fourth on the team, along with two touchdowns. He's also averaging 29.9 yards per kick return.

His Week 5 score against the Houston Texans was his first receiving touchdown since Week 7 of the 2014 season, via ESPN Stats & Info. In that same game, a hip injury forced him to leave early, but he used the bye week to recover and avoid missing time.

Considering Patterson was already slated to become a free agent after the Vikings declined his fifth-year option for 2017, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, any sort of long-term absence could hinder his ability to make the most of limited opportunities and audition for teams who could be interested in his services this spring.
