Indians Pitchers Holding Ball from Francisco Lindor's 1st MLB Hit for Ransom
Learning from the other half of the pitching staff, the Cleveland Indians starting rotation is holding the baseball from top prospect Francisco Lindor's first career hit for ransom.
Earlier this month, the Indians bullpen held the ball from Brandon Moss' 100th career home run hostage. Each reliever wanted an Apple product (which Apple CEO Tim Cook provided), and left-hander Marc Rzepczynski also wanted a 50-gallon drum of lube, which has apparently not been given to him yet.
Cleveland's starting pitchers were apparently inspired by the idea of holding a milestone baseball for ransom, deciding to do it to Lindor.
Indians right-hander Trevor Bauer tweeted out a picture of the ransom note. Unfortunately for Lindor, Cook isn't going to be able to help him out. The starters want Samsung products—and of course, they want the lube to be paid up as well.
There is a bit of a difference between asking Moss to pay up and asking Lindor, however. Moss, a ninth-year player, is making $6.5 million this season. The 21-year-old Lindor is just a rookie who has yet to make major money in baseball.
Lindor tried to use his rookie contract as an excuse to not pay the ransom:
Bauer wasn't buying that:
Nice try, Lindor. It's time to pay up if you want the ball.
