| 9 | Washington Nationals | $1.28 billion |
| 10 | Philadelphia Phillies | $1.25 billion |
The Los Angeles Dodgers are also printing money with a value of $2.4 billion, but even they are well behind the Yankees in second place.
While the Bronx Bombers are still atop the heap, Major League Baseball as a whole has made measurable gains since last season, as its franchises are nearly 50 percent more valuable, per Christina Settimi of Forbes:
Many of the highest-value teams have also been among the most successful on the field in recent years, though that could change for a team such as the Yankees, as few expect them to qualify for the playoffs this season.
Franchises that make money are able to attract top free agents, though, which means organizations such as the Yankees are unlikely to stay down in the dumps for long in this non-salary-cap era.
