Raiders Reportedly Signing Williams

Wednesday, March 11

Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com reported that Williams and the Oakland Raiders have agreed to a deal to bring the defensive tackle to the Bay Area.

On March 9, Adam Caplan of ESPN noted that Oakland was interested in bringing Williams aboard.

Redskins, Broncos Interested in Williams

Tuesday, March 10

Kevin Sheehan of The Sports Fix and ESPN 980 also pointed out that Washington is a potential suitor for Williams, while Troy E. Renck of The Denver Post said that Williams is a “best-buy candidate” to help the Denver Broncos replace Terrance “Pot Roast” Knighton.

Williams, 27, was a first-round pick out of Tennessee in 2010. He's started 40 games in five years in the league, totaling 113 combined tackles.

While he only has two sacks on his career, his value goes far beyond the box score. He occupies offensive linemen up front with penetration and allows his teammates to burst through open holes and make plays against running backs and quarterbacks.

As a quality run-stuffer with experience, he's still a young player who can help a team in need along the defensive front.
