Jermaine Gresham to Cardinals: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
After spending the first five years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, tight end Jermaine Gresham is on the move.
The Arizona Cardinals announced they have agreed to a one-year contract with Gresham, according to Kyle Odegard. Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 added the deal was worth $1.25 million, with "likely incentives."
Gresham has been a solid producer at tight end during his NFL tenure. The 26-year-old has recorded at least 46 receptions in each of his five seasons, with a total of 24 touchdowns.

Pickens' Trade Ultimatum
Even though consistency has never been Gresham's strong suit, he does present an upside play that could pay off big time. He's a matchup problem in the red zone, thanks to his 6'5" and 260-pound frame.
Peter King's Gresham assessment, per the MMQB, which ranked the tight end as the No. 55 overall free agent, summed up his career nicely by saying, "despite dazzling physical skills he’s been purely average."
There's also the question of Gresham behind the scenes, which Paul Dehner of Cincinnati.com wrote about in January, as to why the Bengals may not have been so keen to keep him:
"He's a rare, physically gifted player and a nice complementary piece to the offense, but finding a player with maybe less physical skills but added reliability would probably be the preferred path at this point.
"
Another problem for Gresham moving forward is health. The 27-year-old has never missed more than two games in five NFL seasons, but he underwent back surgery to repair a herniated disc in March.
That injury certainly played a key role in Gresham's delayed signing this offseason, as he was close to signing a deal with the Oakland Raiders in March before the issue was discovered.
Gresham will provide the Cardinals with a much-needed pass-catching skill set at the tight end position, after John Carlson retired at age 30 this offseason.
Now, he joins Carson Palmer, Michael Floyd, John Brown and veteran superstar Larry Fitzgerald in a passing attack that is quickly becoming one of the NFC's most feared.
Gresham could be a nice gamble for his new team. There's something to be said for a relatively young player loaded with talent getting a fresh start.
Sometimes putting on a new uniform is enough to motivate a talented athlete to prove his old team, as well as doubters, wrong.
Gresham has been a proven pass-catcher with solid touchdown totals each year of his career. Teams are always coveting size and strength in the red zone.
As long as Gresham can stay focused and on the field, he can be one of the best under-the-radar signings this offseason.
