Cam Newton Reportedly on Stage at Charlotte Nightclub Moments Before Shooting
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton narrowly avoided gunfire during an appearance at Label Charlotte nightclub on Feb. 28.
WSOC TV in Charlotte (h/t ProFootballTalk.com's Darin Gantt) reported Tuesday that Newton was on a stage and seen mixing with rapper Young Jeezy among others not long before a shooting broke out. Video footage was obtained by Channel 9 as well.
The gunman has yet to be brought to justice. Newton avoided any harm, but two people were injured in the shooting.

ESPN.com reported on Wednesday that Newton is not a person of interest following the incident.
Label was hosting a private party that was a product of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament weekend. However, the two events weren't directly related, according to CIAA officials.
Newton had an additional scare this last December when he was involved in a car accident and suffered two back fractures. The dual-threat QB missed just one game after the wreck, and wound up leading the Panthers to a home playoff victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
