Vince Young Registered at NFL Veteran Combine: Latest Details and Reaction

Vince Young is reportedly set to make another effort to crack an NFL roster. The former Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is registered to take part in the league's new veteran combine next month.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network noted his expected participation:

Young last took a regular-season snap with the Eagles during the 2011 season. He's latched on with the Buffalo Bills, the Green Bay Packers and the Cleveland Browns over the past three years. He wasn't able to make the final roster in any of those attempts.

Last June, after being released by the Browns, he told Brent Carney of KXAN in Austin, Texas, he considered himself retired, and he felt at the time only an ideal situation would be enough to get him back: "It's definitely official I think in my book. Unless we get a great opportunity, something guaranteed…other than that I've started moving forward in some things. I love the NFL, will love the game always but I'm kind of moving forward and moving on right now."

Apparently, he's got the itch to play again. The veteran combine is a nice opportunity for him to showcase his remaining talent in front of scouts from around the league.

Young was the third overall pick in the 2006 draft by the Titans. While he flashed playmaking ability, his lack of consistency prevented him from locking down a starting job after his first two seasons in Tennessee. He did win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2006.

His overall numbers across 61 games are lackluster, though. He threw 51 interceptions with just 46 passing touchdowns. His career quarterback rating is a mundane 74.4. He chipped in 12 rushing touchdowns across six years.

The silver lining for Young is the high number of teams looking for quarterbacks. It's the most important position on the field, and the demand continues to exceed the supply.

At 31, a strong performance at the combine could very well earn him another chance in the NFL.
