Ray to Sit Out Combine Drills with Foot Injury
Saturday, Feb. 21
The 2015 NFL Scouting Combine figured to be a great venue for Ray to separate himself from the field, but he will be unable to participate in drills.
According to NFL.com's Chase Goodbread, Ray will sit out on Sunday due to a foot injury:
"Missouri defensive end Shane Ray said a foot injury will prevent him from competing in the 40-yard dash or any other drill when the NFL Scouting Combine's defensive ends are scheduled to work out.
"Unfortunately (Sunday) I won't be able to perform because of an injury I had in my bowl game with my foot," Ray said. "So everything that is listed for tomorrow as far as the 40, and all the athletic drills, I'll be doing on my pro day."
"
Ray was forced to wear a walking boot due to a toe strain in January, per Tod Palmer of The Kansas City Star.
In terms of pure pass-rushers, Ray is right up there with the likes of Randy Gregory, Vic Beasley and Dante Fowler as the best in the 2015 class.
While Ray could ultimately prove to be the top player among them, he won't have the chance to differentiate himself at the combine, and that could conceivably hurt his stock.
