NFL's Fines and Suspensions Since 2002 by Player, Position and Dollar Amount
The National Football League has divvied up its share of fines and suspensions throughout the years. With the help of this latest data, we are now able to get an in-depth look at the entire gamut of discipline the NFL has handed down in recent memory.
Andrew Powell-Morse of Seat Smart combed through all of the data since 2002 and compiled some tables that help fans see what fines and suspensions have been levied against players and teams.
Paul Tagliabue served as NFL commissioner until September 2006, with Roger Goodell taking over right before the 2006 regular season began. Goodell made his mark early in his tenure, letting it be known that he would protect the shield by penalizing players who violated league conduct policy on or off the field. After nearly a decade on the job, this is what he has built his reputation on.
The statistical breakdown of the discipline is fascinating, giving fans a better idea of which players and teams have had the most run-ins with the league and the law over the years.
