Rich Eisen Uses Stuart Scott Catchphrases for Bengals-Colts Playoff Highlights

Dan CarsonJan 5, 2015

A generation of sports fans and broadcasters lost a close friend in the passing of Stuart Scott.

The longtime ESPN SportsCenter anchor died of cancer Sunday morning, leaving behind two daughters and a long list of mourning colleagues and admirers. One of the most publicly stricken was Rich Eisen, Scott's anchoring partner from his earliest days at ESPN.

After giving an emotional report of Scott's death on live television, Eisen paid further tribute to his friend's memory by using Scott's trademark catchphrases while reading the highlights of Sunday’s AFC Wild Card Round game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts.

For The Win's Mike Foss spotted video of the segment in which Eisen went full Scott, dropping everything from "boo-yah" and "what had happened was" to LL Cool J references.

It was a perfect homage to Scott, whose unique broadcasting style upended decades of clipped sports commentary and changed the way an entire industry approached the news.

Rest in peace, Stuart. Your "boo-yahs" will echo through studio sets and living rooms for decades to come.
