Michigan Bar Promises to Cover Tabs If Lions Beat Packers to Win NFC North
Some Detroit Lions fans will be a little more invested in the de facto NFC North championship game on Sunday than others.
According to ESPN.com's Darren Rovell, The Pour House—a high-end bar in Madison Heights, Michigan—has agreed to pick up all of their customers' bills if the Lions beat the Green Bay Packers in Week 17.
The Lions have already clinched a playoff berth, but Sunday's game will determine the winner of the NFC North. With a huge game looming, the bar wants to make sure that the fans are 100 percent behind their team.
"There's a lot of excitement around here about the Lions making the playoffs, possibly getting that first-week bye and being two weeks away from the Super Bowl," The Pour House owner Rudy Jarbo said, per Rovell. "I think this gives Lions fans an incentive to watch physically, mentally, emotionally and financially."
As Rovell notes, The Pour House can only hold 100 people. However, if the Lions lose the game, this promotion should still lead to a lot of money coming into the bar. Some of the bar's craft beers can cost as much as $23.
"We're not selling Bud Light and Coors," Jarbo said. "So the costs will add up if someone gets confident."
If Lions fans are going to get free drinks, the team is going to have to put history behind it. Detroit has not won at Lambeau Field since 1991.
A victory would cost The Pour House some money, but the bar would be fine with eating all of their customers' bills if it meant that the Lions were NFC North champions.
