Browns 'Frustrated' with Gordon

Sunday, Dec. 28

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported the sentiment within the Browns' organization:

"

Gordon will file a grievance with the team, sources said, on the suspension, which, as it takes away what would have been his sixth game on the roster, precludes him from obtaining an accrued season towards free agency.

Gordon was viewed as a perpetual problem by the Browns former regime, who tried repeatedly to trade him last season only to be vetoed by ownership, sources said. He struggled to integrate to the team despite the Browns spending considerable resources to try to guide him, he was habitually late to meetings and practices, and that behavior has continued in head coach Mike Pettine's rookie season at the helm, sources said.

Gordon 'has to go' according to several members of the organization, with his drug suspensions and lax behavior a growing problem and something they are concerned could rub off on young players on the roster.

"

La Canfora also shared his own take on Gordon's situation and future with the team. "Gordon has superior athletic talent but is a failed drug test away from having his career back in jeopardy and with another long offseason looming, expect the Browns to try to reap whatever little compensation they can get for him and move on," stated La Canfora.

Browns Announce Gordon's Suspension

Saturday, Dec. 27

According to the Browns' official Twitter account, the 23-year-old wideout will not play against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday due to a violation of team rules:

Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reveals why Gordon was suspended:

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole provides more details on how the suspension impacts Gordon's future with the Browns:

Pro Football Talk notes that Gordon wasn't the only player to be absent from the facilities:

Gordon was initially slated to miss the entire 2014 campaign after violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, but his ban was reduced to 10 games after the policy was amended.

The former Baylor star returned on Nov. 23 and helped the Browns beat the Atlanta Falcons with eight catches for 120 yards, but he hasn't been nearly as productive since.

Regardless of his ability, Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan is among those who believe the Browns should move on from the troubled receiver:

Gordon is as talented as they come, as evidenced by his 1,600-yard season in 2013, but he finds himself in trouble far too often.

His season is now undoubtedly over, and it will be interesting to see if his Browns career has reached its conclusion as well.
