Mix-Up Leads to Jay Cutler's Postgame Presser Ending After Just 3 Questions
After yet another tough game, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was ready to field questions from the media in his postgame press conference. The only problem was some of the media hadn't made it to the room yet.
According to the Chicago Tribune's Rich Campbell, there was a bit of a miscommunication with the media after Chicago's 31-15 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night. Cutler doesn't typically do his press conference until after Bears coach Marc Trestman does his. Well, on this night, Cutler went first.
While local reporters were still conducting interviews in the locker room, Cutler was fielding questions at the podium. He fielded three questions, to be exact—all from ESPN's Mike Sando.
The mix-up put Cutler in an awkward spot. He had fulfilled his obligation of talking to the media, so after a few seconds of waiting, he was allowed to leave.
Per Campbell, the local reporters were informed Cutler was speaking and attempted to get to the press conference before he left. No such luck.
Cutler typically gets a bad rap. In this scenario, nobody can criticize him for anything he did. He answered every question thrown at him and even checked with a Bears staff member to see what he should do.
It was just a miscommunication that led to an awkward situation for the quarterback.
