NaVorro Bowman, Glenn Dorsey Placed on Season-Ending IR by 49ers

Joseph ZuckerDec 13, 2014

As the San Francisco 49ers gear up for the home stretch of the 2014 regular season and attempt to salvage their dwindling playoff hopes, they won't be able to count on linebacker NaVorro Bowman or defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey.

The team announced the two will be placed on injured reserve and miss the remainder of the year. San Francisco used the two open roster spots to elevate cornerback Marcus Cromartie and guard Andrew Tiller to the active roster, per Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group:

Neither Bowman nor Dorsey played a game in 2014. Bowman tore his ACL and MCL in the 2013 NFC Championship Game, while Dorsey dealt with biceps and forearm injuries throughout the year.

The 49ers are 3.5 games back of the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West and two games back of the Dallas Cowboys for the last wild-card spot in the NFC. They wrap up the regular season on the road against the Seattle Seahawks and then at home vs. the San Diego Chargers and Cardinals.
