Carroll Comments on Willson's Injury
Sunday, Nov. 27
"They don't think it's bad," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said on Nov. 27, per Stephen Cohen of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Willson had one reception for 11 yards before exiting.
Willson a Nonessential Piece to Seahawks Offense
Seattle upgraded the tight end position last offseason with Jimmy Graham's arrival from the New Orleans Saints. But Willson got thrust back into a more high-profile role after the star addition's first season with the team was cut short due to a torn patellar tendon.
With that said, the Rice product has become accustomed to playing a complementary role. He's also remained durable, missing just three regular-season games because of injury. He did sit out a playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings last season due to a concussion, though.
For the season, Willson has just eight receptions for 73 yards.
Willson might be an unheralded member of the Seahawks, but he's illustrated at times over the past three years that he can fill a more noteworthy role when called upon.
