Justin Bieber Joins Pittsburgh Steelers for Bible Study, Possibly Cursing Them

Jake SilverNov 8, 2014

Justin Bieber is a bit like Drakeif there's a flavor-of-the-week team, there's a good chance he wants to be part of it. But is his wavering support a curse?

Update from Tuesday, Nov. 11

After Pittsburgh suffered a shocking 20-13 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, some Steelers fans may believe the "Bieber Curse" is legitimate after the pop star had joined the team for an exclusive worship service the night before the game.

However, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger assures the singer is not to blame for the loss, and that many outsiders have attended their Saturday night services.

"That's not a big deal at all," Roethlisberger said on 93.7 The Fan, via ESPN.com's Scott Brown. "For instance [former Steelers wide receiver] Plaxico Burress stopped by. Obviously he's family, but people stop by all of the time and say, 'Hi,' and we've had other athletes, actors, celebrities, stuff like that stop by. It's not a big deal at all."

Roethlisberger—who was out at dinner during the bible study—isn't putting any stock into the singer's appearance on Saturday, but Steelers fans have to be hoping that Bieber finds a different bandwagon to jump on.

--End of Update--

With Ben Roethlisberger coming off a two-game stretch in which he threw a record-setting 12 touchdowns, the Pittsburgh Steelers are pretty trendy. Perhaps that's why Bieber joined them for bible study on Saturday. I mean, probably, right?

Steelers players seemed pleased to have the company of a celebrity:

"

Didn't know he was a steelers fan, but welcome to steelernation @justinbieber pic.twitter.com/5Fktaq329D

"

The Twitterverse, however, was quick to predict impending doom for the team, viewing Bieber as a curse:

"

Ben throws six picks tomorrow. RT @bgradkowski5: Great to meet @justinbieber tonight at chapel! Thanks for coming! pic.twitter.com/miF7GJYYfc

"

With Bieber jumping on Steelers bandwagon, play all your Jets in fantasy tomorrow. Steelers guaranteed to lose now.

"
