Carolina Panthers star linebacker Luke Kuechly was ejected from the team's Week 7 matchup against the Green Bay Packers for making contact with an official.
Tom Pelissero of USA Today noted the ejection during the third quarter:
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com describes what sort of punishment Kuechly can expect to face going forward:
On Monday, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer provided a statement from Panthers coach Ron Rivera discussing potential punishment for Kuechly:
On Sunday, following the game, David Newton of ESPN provides comments from Rivera, who spoke about Kuechly's mindset during the play:
Max Henson of Panthers.com offered more information on the play:
Former NFL Vice President of Officiating Mike Pereira noted his thoughts on the ejection:
Kuechly, 23, was the 2013 NFC Defensive Player of the Year. He entered Sunday with 74 tackles along with a forced fumble and one sack this season.
The Panthers were already down 35-3 at the time of the ejection, so the game was well out of reach. But with Kuechly not on the field, the defense is left without its leader against a potent Packers offense for the remainder of the game.
