Dr. Mark Adickes of ESPN weighed in on the situation:
Ridley had run for just 23 yards on 10 carries and caught one pass for six yards. Before Sunday's game, he discussed how he and fellow draft classmate Shane Vereen had come into their own.
"This is kind of the picture (the Patriots) had for us when they drafted us four years ago," said Ridley, per MassLive.com's Kevin Duffy. "We've really grown and matured and developed into the players that they want us to be, but also the players we want to be."
Vereen figures to take over in the featured role until Ridley recovers.
Deployed more often in passing situations, Vereen is a capable ball-carrier who had averaged 5.7 yards per carry on the season entering Week 6.
