Ben Tate, Isaiah Crowell's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 6

Donald WoodOct 12, 2014

Fantasy football owners with Cleveland Browns running backs Ben Tate and Isaiah Crowell are living the fantasy high life during the Week 6 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite missing time earlier this season with a knee injury, Tate has become one of the more dynamic running backs in his starting role with the team. He ran for 124 yards in Week 5 and found the end zone twice in Week 6.

While Tate is losing some carries to Crowell, the veteran is getting goal-line work and is a valuable asset as a RB2 or flex in most standard scoring leagues. Touchdowns will always be sporadic in the Browns offense, but Cleveland boasts a talented offensive line Tate can run behind.

As long as Tate stays healthy, he’s a viable fantasy option.

Crowell’s value will be directly related to his work load. With Tate finding a rhythm and taking over the role as the team’s primary back, depending on Crowell in your fantasy league is a dangerous concept. He may have scored a touchdown on Sunday, but his value is dependent on getting into the end zone.

One positive takeaway for Crowell is that Terrance West was a healthy scratch, which is a good sign for the former's outlook. Crowell is the clear No. 2 on the depth chart and should be owned in deeper leagues in case of injury to Tate.

Crowell may be getting his share of carries, but Tate was brought in to be the workhorse for the team. As the coaching staff continues to build faith in his knee, Tate should see his workload continue to rise.

The more Tate touches the ball, the fewer opportunities Crowell has to shine.
