Ravens' Joe Flacco Starts 100th Consecutive Regular-Season Game

Bleacher Report MilestonesSep 29, 2014

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco made his 100th consecutive regular-season start in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Carolina Panthers, leading the Ravens to a blowout victory behind a trio of touchdown passes.

Known as much for his durability as the quality of his play, Flacco has started every gameโ€”both regular season and playoffsโ€”since Baltimore selected him out of the University of Delaware with the 18th overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft.

The 29-year-old has a 65-35-0 record in the regular season, with a 9-4 mark in the playoffs. He's easily the Ravens' all-time leader in every significant counting stat for passers and is the only quarterback in franchise history with more than 42 starts for the team.

Flacco's 100 consecutive regular-season starts are good for the NFL's third-longest active streak among signal-callers, behind only the 155 of New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and 132 of San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. Thus, since Flacco entered the league, only the Ravens, Giants and Chargers have started the same quarterback in every game.

Baltimore's 6'6" leader has been much more than a durable game manager this season, as he's on pace for 388 completions, 4,220 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns and just eight interceptions. Each of those numbers would represent a career-best mark, as would his 63.4 completion percentage.

While Flacco undoubtedly deserves credit for his improved play, the Baltimore offensive line has had a huge role in the success, as has offseason acquisition Steve Smith, who ranks third in the NFL with 429 receiving yards.
